Position Title: Disbursements Specialist I  
Location: Big Rapids (Main Campus)  
Advertised Salary: $18.18 hourly rate pursuant to the FSU and CTA/MEA-NEA Agreement  
FLSA: Non-Exempt  
Temporary/Continuing:  Continuing  
Part-Time/Full-Time: Full-Time  
At Will/Just Cause: Just Cause  
Summary of Position: Perform responsible, independent clerical functions for the disbursements processes, requiring
knowledge of University policies and procedures. Communicate and perform duties accurately in a manner that provide excellent service and are responsive to customer needs.
 
Position Type: Staff  
Required Education: Satisfactory completion of two years post secondary study in accounting and/or office administration, or equivalent experience.
The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Equivalency for education is two years of related work experience equals one year of education.
 
Required Work Experience: Two years of work experience using a computerized system in a payroll or accounts payable office or in a position in which payroll or accounts payable was a major component of the job duties.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:    
Duties/Responsibilities: Perform any/all duties as defined int he Disbursements Clerk position description.
Establish and maintain employee payroll records
Assemble data from records for use in preparation of reports, lists, and tables for internal and external purposes using spreadsheets and word processing.
Research, answer, or refer inquiries from faculty, staff, students and general public regarding established policies and procedures.
Provide functional support to lower level clerical, student, or part-time employees.
Identify, initiate, and implement changes as a result of changes in bargaining unit contracts and/or administrative policies.
Balance general ledger accounts related to disbursements activity.
Establish, publish, and distribute disbursements calendars and information.
Provide back-up to all Disbursements related activities including payroll, accounts payable and purchasing card.
 
Skills and Abilities: Input, retrieve, download, merge, and output information from various software programs and systems.
Use computer software such as spreadsheets, database and word processing.
Maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
Perform complicated mathematical computations, record keeping and accounting duties with a high
degree of accuracy.
Plan, organize and make sound judgments and decisions..
Work courteously and effectively under pressure and within payroll and accounts payable schedule deadlines.
Work well with others as part of a team environment.
Communicate effectively with a variety of students, faculty, staff and visitors in a variety of situations.
Train and help to direct others in the performance of Disbursements Office duties.
