Summary of Position: |
This position reports directly to the Director of the School of Education and requires the person to work closely with faculty, students and our PK-12 partners in the Big Rapids and Grand Rapids areas. The person is required to find clinical experiences for our students at the appropriate grade levels in diverse settings with diverse populations, as required by the Michigan Department of Education for teacher certification purposes. The person is also required to work with the Michigan Department of Education for reporting requirements. Must be able to develop relationships with administrators and teachers in the PK-12 system, maintain data bases, attend statewide meetings, have good time management skills, and be self-starter. |

Required Education: |
Master's degree in Education or closely related field. |

Required Work Experience: |
Documented work experience in the K-12 setting; working knowledge of computer programs such as word, excel, other Microsoft office products; demonstrated interpersonal skills; demonstrated organizational skills; excellent human relations skills (ability to work with multiple constituencies), and experience with diverse individuals. |

Required Licenses and Certifications: |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: |
Demonstrated knowledge of non-traditional adult learners; teaching/administrative experience in schools; student teacher supervision; experience working in higher education; teacher certification; demonstrated ability to take initiative in unstructured environments. |

Duties/Responsibilities: |
Place students in clinical experiences in PK-12 schools. Maintain data bases (student placement data, MDE required data, etc.) Work collaboratively with School of Education faculty and staff and other placement coordinator. Audit and maintain student teacher and pre-student teacher applicant records. Contact, interact effectively, and build relationships with PK-12 school personnel. Work closely with faculty and university supervisors to monitor and assist when appropriate with the student during clinical experiences. Uphold all School of Education policies and procedures. Provide orientation and information sessions related to clinical experiences at least twice a semester. Participate in student teaching seminar. Attend and participate in SOE department meetings and Field Experiences Ad hoc committee, and statewide meeting (DARTEP). Travel to meet with PK-12 partners and to develop new partnerships if necessary in the Big Rapids, Grand Rapids and surrounding areas (60 mile radius). May need to travel to other areas depending on student teaching placements. |

Good verbal and written communication. Maintain data bases. Create and update ADA compliant forms. |
