Adjunct Instructor 1 - African American Studies Big Rapids, MI 49307
Ferris State University’s Department of Humanities is looking to fill the position of an Adjunct Instructor of African American Studies. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. There are various modality options available for this position. For in-person or hybrid teaching position, courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. Such candidate(s) selected for this position must reside in Michigan, after acceptance of employment. For 100% online teaching positions, courses are to be taught online. Such candidate(s) selected for this position must reside in one of the following states while performing services for Ferris State University: Michigan, Illinois (excluding Chicago), Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Ohio, or Wisconsin, after acceptance of employment. The start date for this position is August 2025 or January 2026. Required: Master’s degree in African American Studies or Africana Studies; OR Master's degree in another related field in the Humanities or Social Sciences with 18 graduate credit hours in African American Studies and/or Africana Studies coursework; OR a combination of cognate courses such as Anthropology, English, Art History, Sociology, History, American Studies, and/or Philosophy. Prior teaching experience of African American Studies at the high school level or higher.
Adjunct Instructor 3 - Spanish Multiple Locations
The English, Literature and World Language Department seeks applications for a one-year adjunct instructor 3 Spanish teaching position to teach upper-level in-person/hybrid dual-enrollment Spanish language and culture courses at high schools in the Grand Rapids area. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in teaching, the ability to work effectively with both faculty colleagues and students, and participation in other functions of academic significance. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. The start date of this position is August 2025. Required: Master's degree in Spanish, linguistics, Hispanic cultural studies, or a related field, with near-native Spanish fluency (ACTFL Advanced Mid-level). Experience teaching effectively in Spanish immersion programs and/or in high-school or college Spanish courses taught fully in Spanish.

Under the direction of supervisors, independently perform/coordinate responsible support functions which may focus on a specialized area(s) of student services, such as Admissions, Financial Aid, Registration, etc. Communicate and perform duties in a manner that provide excellent service and is responsive to customer needs. Provide responsible, independent complex, record keeping, and/or accounting support. Provide administrative support for Ferris State University’s Admissions Department. This position reports to the Associate Director of Admissions Recruitment and will be located at the KCAD/Ferris GR location. This position will require the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as events are scheduled. Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. At least two years of work experience performing similar administrative support and demonstrate organizations skills.

The College of Arts, Sciences and Education seeks applications for a Secretary level 2. This position provides responsible, independent secretarial support within established departmental policies and procedures in the College of Arts, Sciences and Education. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2025. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed. Required: Satisfactory completion of two years college or equivalent such as military technical training or business/technical schooling. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Equivalency for education is two years of full-time related work experience equals one year of education. Two years full-time secretarial work experience to include bookkeeping, supervisory responsibility, and public contact. Two years part-time is equivalent to one year full-time.
Enrollment Services Software Specialist Big Rapids, MI 49307
Work independently and under minimal supervision to implement and coordinate the operations of the Enrollment Services e-communication software system and any other assigned computerized system(s) that may be used in Enrollment Services. Serves as the liaison with the software company to implement and make revisions to the software. Communicate and perform duties in a manner that provides excellent service and is responsive to customer needs. Function as a ‘lead worker’ to assist others and answer questions relating to technical software systems used in the department. Required: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Database Technology, Business or equivalent. Two years of full-time experience that includes working with electronic recruiting systems or large database software systems.
