Student and Scholar Immigration Coordinator Big Rapids, MI 49307
Student and Scholar Immigration Coordinator – Ferris State University. Reporting to the Executive Director of International Education, the Immigration Coordinator serves as a primary contact for international students in non-immigration status (F-1) and international scholars in exchange visitor status (J-1). The person in this role will work on an individual basis on immigration, financial, academic, and personal matters, will meet with international students and scholars during scheduled appointments or on a walk-in basis, and will serve as PDSO (Primary Designated School Official) or DSO (Designated School Official) and ARO (Alternate Responsible Officer) or RO (Responsible Officer). The Immigration Coordinator will prepare and submit immigration documentation for international students in F-1 status and scholars in J-1 status and create and maintain SEVIS records. Assistant Professor School of Automotive and Heavy Equipment.The School of Automotive and Heavy Equipment invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track, faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and teaching courses in the Associate of Applied Science Automotive Service Technology Program, and/or the Bachelor of Science Automotive Engineering Technology Program, in lecture and lab formats. This program requires utilizing a variety of methods and techniques to assure student attainment of course outcomes and the utilization of assessment methods to monitor success. Other duties may include delivery of courses off campus, development and delivery of online courses, serving on department, school, college and university committees, and student advising. The focus of the courses being taught would be towards the eight ASE certification areas. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2024 at the earliest and January of 2025 at the latest. Required: A Bachelor’s degree in Automotive or a related discipline. A master’s degree in education or a related field must be secured as a condition for tenure. Certification in the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Automotive A1 through A8 and G1 categories is required at hiring or within six months of start date. The possible categories include engine repair, brakes, suspension and steering, electrical/electronic systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, automatic transmissions, manual drive train and axles, engine performance, and maintenance and light repair. Five years prior relevant work experience in Automotive Service or a related discipline or five years teaching experience in an automotive secondary, post-secondary, or technical training setting, or five years of automotive industry experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to use computer technology for course management and delivery.

Work in coordination with the campus community while providing guidance and consultation to University personnel regarding health and safety issues, such as, but not limited to, laboratory safety and health, hazardous materials, medical surveillance, MiOSHA regulations, lockout/tagout, respiratory protection, fire safety, etc. Required: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or related field (i.e. public health, chemistry, biology, or physics).
