Assistant Professor - Music Big Rapids, MI 49307
Assistant Professor - Music - Full time 9-month tenure-track position. Although there is no music major program at Ferris State University, Instrumental Music at Ferris has a proud history of more than 115 years on campus and in the greater community surrounding Big Rapids, Michigan. The primary responsibilities of this position include directing the University-Community Concert Band and the Jazz Band, and also assisting with the Athletic Bands. Additional teaching responsibilities may include one or more of the following: Symphony Band, Beginning Class Piano, Music Fundamentals (pre-Music Theory), and/or Music Appreciation-type course(s). Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The start date for this position is August 2025. Required: Master’s degree in a field of Music, with specialization in Concert Band and/or Jazz Band. Demonstrated successful experience as a high school, college, or university instrumental music teacher with experience in directing Concert Band, Jazz Band and Athletic Bands. The successful candidate must demonstrate the potential for teaching excellence and strong interpersonal and communication skills, allowing them to work effectively with a diverse array of students and colleagues.
Adjunct Instructor 1 - Criminal Justice Big Rapids, MI 49307
Teaching required Advanced First Aid course fall semester for Law Enforcement Academy following MCOLES requirements. Availability to teach Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. First Aid instructors shall hold valid and current certification by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or a comparable organization or institution approved by MCOLES. Certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for professionals (adult, child, infant) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) shall be the prerequisites for the MCOLES basic training first aid objectives. These certifications must include in-person skills testing. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2025. Required: Successful completion of MCOLES recognized police academy training course or a bachelor's degree and the required licenses and certifications listed below. Current certification in American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or comparable organization of institution approved by MCOLES. Current certification in CPR and AED. Minimum 5 years of relevant professional training and experience in first aid.
Adjunct Instructor 1 - Manufacturing Engineering Technology Multiple Locations
The School of Design and Manufacturing invites applications for an adjunct faculty position in the Manufacturing Engineering Technology program. Position requires teaching undergraduate-level lecture and laboratory coursework in a "hands-on" academic environment. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. This posting is used for face to face and/or online instruction. For in-person or hybrid teaching positions, candidates must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University’s campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. For courses that are taught 100% online, the candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan, Illinois (excluding Chicago), Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Ohio, or Wisconsin after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2025 at the earliest and January of 2026 at the latest. Required: A master’s or higher-level degree in field or closely related field and 3 years of relevant industrial experience (all courses up through 400 level). A master’s or higher-level degree out of field with at least one bachelor’s or associate degree in field and 5 years of relevant industry experience directly related to courses taught (all courses up through 400 level). A bachelor’s degree in field and 5 years of relevant industry experience directly related to courses taught; or an associate’s degree in field and any baccalaureate degree and 5 years of relevant industry experience (all courses up through 200 level). 3-5 years of relevant industry experience dependent upon degree obtained. Teach one or more courses in one or more of the following degree programs: Plastics & Polymer Engineering Technology AAS and Plastics Engineering Technology BS. Courses assigned may be lectures or labs; face-to-face, blended, or online. A focus on student success, safety, and use of current technology are expected. Regular office hours are also expected. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis.
