Position Title: Print Operator  
Location: Big Rapids (Main Campus)  
Advertised Salary: $15.41 hourly rate pursuant to the FSU and CTA/MEA-NEA Agreement  
FLSA: Non-Exempt

Summary of Position: Understanding of digital printing equipment and applicable software. Set up and perform (or arrange for) repairs of digital printing and finishing equipment. Provide customer service. Work with computerized ordering system retrieving online orders.

Position Type: Staff  
Required Education: High school graduate or equivalent.

Required Work Experience: One year of work experience in an office or print shop performing a variety of duplicating duties and customer service interactions. Attention to details a must.

Required Licenses and Certifications:    
Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Work experience setting up and/or maintaining online work order systems. Some education or training in graphic design/advertising. Skilled in the use of various computer programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and knowledge of basic office programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, etc. Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Able to count money, make change, prepare deposits with accuracy. Maintain confidentiality.  
Duties/Responsibilities: Input, retrieve, download, merge, output and maintain information to access various software programs and systems. Enter work orders into a program to monitor inventory and create data for uploads to Accounting Office.

Input, retrieve, download, merge, output and maintain graphic images and production data by using software programs and systems.

Sort and disseminate work to the proper equipment based on work deadline.

Prepare work for printing, utilizing the appropriate process with regard to the number of reproductions, quality desired, and budget.

Maintain, order and distribute adequate inventory and supplies

Assign, train and supervise student employees.

Operate a cash register, balance daily receipts with cash sheets, prepare and/or post a wide variety of transactions (routine and non-routine) to accounting records and maintain balances.

Answer multi-line phones; serve customers, and perform duties in a manner that provide excellent service and that is responsive to customer needs.

Work to assure the excellent quality and completion of the completed product.

Develop, implement, perform and/or revise bookkeeping, recordkeeping and accounting related tasks and related general office procedures.

Recognize, analyze, trouble-shoot and make minor repairs to all equipment. Contact service personnel, provide a detailed explanation of the problem and arrange for repair.

Operate on-line digital printers using high-speed scanners and computer programs.

Assure the security of tests and confidential materials.

Maintain the confidentiality of designated information.

May be assigned responsibility to oversee successful completion of daily operational departmental duties

Open and/or close facility.

Report directly to assigned supervisor.

Responsible for the quality of work completed.

Train and direct work of student employees. Carry out these responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable laws.

Skills and Abilities: Communicate effectively both in writing and verbally.

Count money, make change and prepare written receipts.

Independently process a job to completion meeting timelines and deadlines.

Operate and perform basic maintenance and repairs on specialized machinery.

Train and supervise student employees.
