Summary of Position: The Senior HR Generalist is responsible for the delivery of a broad range of HR support and performs a variety of Human Resources functions. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in cross-functional HR projects, and new initiatives. This individual must possess exceptional customer service, critical thinking, and analytical skills; demonstrated ability to work independently with little supervision. The Senior HR Generalist will analyze, support, and perform responsibilities in the following areas: benefits, employment, retirement, and wellness. Works as an integral member of the HR team on initiatives to insure data integrity. The successful candidate must be responsive, excel at problem solving, and initiate solutions. Successful candidates will be a self-starter, committed to lifelong learning, and possess a high value for collaboration and a comfort with ambiguity. The Senior HR Generalist must value working with a diverse constituency and communicate effectively and professionally.

 
Position Type: Staff  
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree with a Human Resources emphasis or Business Administration with recent work experience in the benefits administration area.  
Required Work Experience: Three years recent experience in Human Resources with a focus on benefits administration.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with third party benefit systems (e.g. health, dented, vision and retirement)

Demonstrated knowledge and experience processing FMLA and other leaves

Demonstrated proficiency with technology and ability to perform advanced functions in MS Office Suite.
 
Required Licenses and Certifications:    
Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: SHRM – CP or PHR

Experience with complex data analysis.

Experience in a higher education or union environment.

Demonstrated experience working with multiple benefit plans.

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Banner.
 
Duties/Responsibilities: Provide excellent customer service.

Answer a wide variety of benefit related questions and work to resolve issues relating to multiple benefit plans.

Administer FMLA and other leaves process.

Provide coordination and support for training and other benefit sponsored projects and events.

Assist employees with benefit questions.

Be an expert resource for benefits issues.

Process Total Compensation letters.

Process annual ACA reporting and notices.

Maintain, reconcile, and audit HR/Benefit data in a timely fashion.

Guide faculty and staff in compliance with policies/procedures related to benefits.

Serve as a liaison between employees and the benefit providers for designated services as well as working with other benefit plan administrators.

Coordinate the FSU Employee Healthy U Wellness program, wellness events and wellness social media.

Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations related to HR and benefit responsibilities.

Assist with monitoring benefit plans for adherence to appropriate regulations.

Carry out responsibilities in accordance with University policies, procedures, and applicable laws.

Maintain confidentiality of appropriate HR and employee information.

Consistently demonstrate high standards of responsibility with integrity by supporting the FSU mission, vision, and core values.

Skills and Abilities: Communicate effectively and professionally both orally and in writing.

Compose original written materials.

Achieve a strong working knowledge of EMS and benefit systems.

Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Ability to have a flexible work schedule, when necessary.

Work cooperatively with a variety of employees, vendors, and departments.

Understand complexities of benefit plans and bargaining unit contracts.
