Summary of Position: Ferris State University’s School of Digital Media invites applications for a Tenure-track faculty position in the Television and Digital Media Production (TDMP) Bachelor of Science Program, effective August 15, 2022.

The School of Digital Media (SDM) at Ferris State offers bachelor’s degree programs that provide applied learning experiences for students through small class sizes, and project-oriented coursework.

The TDMP program offers an equipment-intensive learning experience throughout the program from the student’s freshman experience through graduation. Upon completion of their studies, students complete a six-month internship in preparation for entry into the workplace. We seek to prepare graduates with a broad skillset that will allow them to pursue jobs in a wide range of production environments, including broadcast, film, corporate, educational, and independent, boutique production houses.

Ideal candidates will bring professional experience working in film and video production/post-production environments and a broad range of technical and creative skills. Additionally, a desire to do ongoing creative work is encouraged. A candidate’s ability to bring relevance to the classroom through their professional experiences is highly desired. Demonstrated expertise in one or more production disciplines, and experience with digital workflows and media file management is required. Additional experience in field and post audio production, and/or Social Media marketing, promotion, management is preferred.

Required Education: Master’s Degree in a related discipline.  
Required Work Experience: Three years in content creation within a media production-related field.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: MFA preferred.

At least seven years of related work experience.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of general field production techniques, and producing experiences, coupled with extensive non-linear video editing experience.

Solid experiences in audio production and post, and/or experience in live productions / directing will also be considered.

Experiences in Social Media content production, management, and marketing is preferred.

Teaching experience at the college level is preferred.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach courses across the curriculum of the TDMP program, primarily to freshmen through junior level students.

Tenure-track faculty also have professional responsibilities which may include advising students, orientation, registration, participation in committees (department, college and/or university), keeping regular posted office hours scheduled at times convenient for students, participation in traditional functions which have academic significance and in-field professional development.
 
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities:    
Skills and Abilities: Must demonstrate knowledge and experience in pre-production, production, and post-production activities including functioning as a producer, camera operator, and video editor with non-linear editing software.

Candidates must have experience with Adobe Creative Cloud software titles, and Avid Media Composer editing software.
