Summary of Position: Provide coordination and oversight for clinical placements and clinical nursing faculty in the pre-licensure nursing program. Provide instructional support for pre-licensure laboratory courses as needed.

Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  
Required Work Experience: Three years of experience within the last five years as a nurse in an inpatient agency. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.  
Required Licenses and Certifications: Registered Nurse license in Michigan.

Previous work experience in an academic setting.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Provide coordination and oversight for clinical placements:
-Collaborate with didactic faculty assigned to clinical courses to determine appropriate clinical experiences that are congruent with clinical course outcomes.
-Establish and maintain clinical sites for student placements which will provide experiential learning that is congruent with clinical course learning outcomes.
- Participate in the establishment of affiliation agreements for new clinical sites and maintain affiliation agreements for ongoing clinical sites, in conjunction with the Associate Dean.
- Collaborate and communicate with the pre-licensure program coordinator.
- Serve as the primary liaison from the School of Nursing for all clinical placement sites and consortia.
- Provide required student or program information to the clinical sites for student placements each semester.
- Evaluate clinical sites on an annual basis for the purpose of ongoing program assessment.
- Create and disburse student clinical rotation schedules for all clinical nursing courses to students, department secretary, and clinical and didactic faculty assigned to the clinical course.
- Coordinate clinical orientations for students and clinical faculty each semester.
- Assure that all students meet the program-designated requirements for clinical placements.
- Monitor and maintain confidential student records related to clinical requirements.

Provide coordination and oversight for clinical adjunct faculty:
- Interview, in conjunction with a tenure-track faculty search committee, prospective clinical adjunct faculty and recommend for hire based on required qualifications.
- Coordinate the orientation of new adjunct clinical faculty to the nursing program and assigned course as well as to the clinical site if indicated.
- Assign clinical faculty to the appropriate clinical rotation based on clinical expertise.
- Communicate clinical instruction assignments to the Department Chair for the purpose of hiring each semester.
- Maintain regular communication with clinical faculty for the purpose of addressing student or agency issues.
- Oversee and complete Clinical Nursing Faculty evaluations.
- Coordinate student evaluations of clinical faculty and clinical agency each semester.
- Maintain current records/rosters for clinical faculty.

Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
- Remain current in the areas of best practice techniques in nursing care. Update procedure guidelines as appropriate. Maintain records for faculty reference.
- Remain current in the areas of infection control and safety involving hazardous materials, chemicals, and radiation. Ensure that safety requirements are in place and safe procedures are being used.
- Collaborate with faculty in the scheduling of laboratory learning experiences.
- Oversee clinical makeup assignments.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Provide laboratory instructional support as needed.
Serve as back-up/support for the Nursing Skills Laboratory Coordinator.
Assist faculty in providing laboratory and/or instructional assistance in the area of simulation as
scheduled as needed.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable
Performs all duties in compliance with applicable University policies and procedures and state
and federal requirements.
Reports to the immediate supervisor.
Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information.
