Summary of Position: The Assistant Director/Internship Coordinator of the PGA Golf Management program is responsible for all aspects of the PGA Golf Management internship program. Furthermore, the position is responsible for:
Assisting in the recruitment of prospective students.
Providing oversight for all activities associated with the annual PGA Merchandise Show.
Assisting with management of and coordination of all PGM programming.
Serving as adjunct faculty for PGA GM internship courses (PGMG-192, 292, 392, 492, 493).
Maintaining contact/engagement with the program alumni association and the Ferris Alumni Office.
Monitoring PGA personnel policies, procedures, and expectations for accreditation compliance
Administering and monitoring requirements set forth by the PGA
Interacting and communicating on a regular basis with other academic programs to facilitate enhancement of curricular offerings.
Actively participating in, and encouraging staff to participate in, appropriate professional development activities.
Hiring, training, and monitoring work of student employees.
Implementing new emerging technology and trends for the program to increase productivity (Formstack, Office 365, Teams, SharePoint).
Providing administrative leadership for the PGM RSO as needed.
 
Position Type: Staff  
Required Education: Masters Degree with a combined experience of 4 years or more in any of the following: operations management, coaching, teaching and/or golf professional experience.
OR
Master's in a business-related discipline with a combined experience of 3 years of more in teaching, golf operations and/or coaching.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:    
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: The Assistant Director/Internship Coordinator provides administrative oversight and support for PGA Golf Management Program per PGA Standards and Criteria. This position is responsible for all aspects of the PGA Golf Management internship program. The Assistant Director/Internship Coordinator reports directly to the Director for the PGA Golf Management Program.
The Assistant Director/Internship Coordinator is expected to work closely with the Director, the Department Chair, and Secretary for the SEHM Department.
Work directly with the Director for PGA Accreditation and University Programming.
Fulfill all duties of the Director in his/her absence.
Engage in the development and maintenance of external relations.
Serve on committees and task forces at the college and university level.
Actively participates in appropriate professional development activities.

A. Direct and coordinate all aspects of the PGM Internship Program
1. Track students to ensure completion of 16 months (5 semesters) of internship experience as required by the PGA
2. Modify and maintain internship and fulltime employment database
3. Respond to phone, mail, and e-mail inquiries regarding potential intern placements
4. Conduct an annual pre-placement assessment of each potential internship site
5. Review student resumes and advise on potential site selections
6. Plan, market, process payments, and coordinate annual PGA GM Career Fair
7. Process and maintain master spreadsheet of placements, 3-party agreements, and student and employer evaluations
8. Visit internship sites to ensure quality experience and enhance relationships with host facilities
9. Conduct post-internship interviews with students
B. Assist in the recruitment of prospective students
1. Develop and modify PGM recruiting materials
2. Edit and update PGM website
3. Mail recruiting letter and brochure to lists provided by the PGA
4. Advise students on academic course selection
5. Answer inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources
6. Meet with student prospects and parents in the PGM Director’s absence
7. Attend DAWG Days as requested
C. Provide oversight for maintenance of PGA requirements
1. Maintain, update, and implement approved PGA procedures, systems, and policies
2. Formulate and submit the PGM budget to the PGA each year
3. Provide oversight for all activities associated with the annual PGA Merchandise Show
D. Assist with management of and coordination of all PGM programming
1. Work with staff to plan, develop, revise, and administer program policies and procedures
2. Maintain PGM accounts, process PGM purchases, review Visa Card transactions, and create purchase orders
3. Oversee the planning and of the PGM Senior graduation banquet
4. Maintain PGM information and activities on Canvas
5. Maintain PGM Facebook pages, Twitter, and COB website information

Serve as adjunct faculty for PGA GM courses.
Review PGA Work Experience Portfolio Activities, as assigned.
Maintain contact and involvement with the PGA GM alumni association and the Ferris Alumni Office.
Monitor PGA personnel policies, procedures, and expectations for accreditation compliance.
Administer and monitor requirements set forth by the PGA.
Hire, train, and monitor work of student employee(s).
Implement new emerging technology and trends for the program to increase productivity.
Provide administrative leadership for the PGA GM RSO as needed.
Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
