Summary of Position: This is a six-month position from January to June that will work approximately 27 hours per week as an assistant men/women's sprints and jumps coach. The assistant coach will focus on working with sprints, hurdles, long jump and high jump. They will be expected to attend meets, practice and team functions. A successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic and energy. Also must be committed to the Ferris State University Athletic department's vision and core values.

Required Education: Bachelors degree  
Required Work Experience: At least two years of intercollegiate playing experience, or coaching collegiate track and field or high school track and field.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:    
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Assist Head Coach in recruitment of qualified student-athletes. Assist with meet day coaching and preparation. Assist in coordinating and running practices in compliance with NCAA rules and regulations. Mentor student athletes and monitor their overall mental health. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.  
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Work with and inspire a diverse group of student athletes.
Work cooperatively with administrators and coaches.
 
Skills and Abilities: Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
