Summary of Position: |
This position will work closely with the Michigan Department of Education and the School of Education administration. The primary responsibility is to recommend teacher certification. In addition, they will work with students who are seeking teacher certification as post-bachelor degree students and graduate level Special Education and Educational Leadership. They will work with persons seeking certification in Career and Technical Education, as well. Anticipated start date of this position is March of 2023. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Recommend teacher certification candidates to the Michigan Department of Education for Ferris State University students graduating from the education programs. Direct inquires for students who are seeking teacher certification as post-bachelor’s degree students. Verify student enrollment at Ferris State University for the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) and records scores once those are reported to the University. Complete Title II reports, as required by the Federal Government for Teacher Education programs. Respond to requests from the Michigan Department of Education at it relates to teacher certification. Review all Level II applications for on and off campus students. Ensuring that the student has met CAEP Accreditation requirements and Department of Human Services’ background checks are complete. Complete verification of program completion for those seeking out of state certification as required by that state. Implement policies from the Office of Career and Technical Education Program at the Michigan Department of Education. Identify teachers needing certified in secondary and post-secondary CTE programs. Assist teachers or potential teachers in gaining a Standard Teacher Certificate with CIP programs through transcript evaluation and recommendations. Have a working knowledge of all MDE approved CIP codes and career and technical pathways Recommend teacher certification for Career and Technical Education candidates through the Michigan Department of Education. Evaluate student candidacy into the ProMoTEd program. Assist CTE faculty in program promotion. Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. |
