Advertised Salary: $67,000 to $70,000 - Salary commensurate with education, experiences and other requirements. Comprehensive benefit package (health care, vacation, etc.)

Summary of Position: Tenure-track assistant professor to teach face-to-face and online courses in developmental writing as well as additional writing, literature, and/or language courses appropriate to qualifications.

Candidates with additional expertise in any of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply: children’s or young adult literature; English Language Arts (K-12) education; rhetorical genre studies; Spanish language.

The start date of this position is August 2023.
 
Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing  
Required Education: Ph.D. in English, rhetoric and composition, literature, or a related field required by August 1, 2023  
Required Work Experience: Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching college-level writing.

Potential for undergraduate teaching excellence, effective communication skills, and the interpersonal skills to work with a diverse array of students and colleagues.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Expertise in children’s or young adult literature, English Language Arts (K-12) education, rhetorical genre studies, or Spanish language.  
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Teach face-to-face and online courses in developmental writing and other upper- and lower-level writing, literature, and/or language courses, as appropriate to applicant’s qualifications.

Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in University committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.

Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
