Summary of Position: |
The Senior Inclusion Officer and Director of Hispanic Business and Educational Initiatives will supervise and coordinate partnership activity between Ferris State University and Hispanic-serving organizations in the West Michigan region and throughout the state of Michigan. Additionally, the Officer/Director will oversee the Center for Latin@ Studies (CLS), including the development, implementation, and assessment of DEIB programming and initiatives in furtherance of the University’s DEIB plan. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Diversity, Inclusion, and Strategic Initiatives. Other duties may be assigned. This position may split office time between the Big Rapids and Grand Rapids campuses. The anticipated start date of this position is September of 2023. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed. |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: |
1. Knowledge of West Michigan and statewide Hispanic organizations. 2. Experience working with educational bodies, including high schools, community colleges, and 4-year institutions. 3. Experience in business development and higher education within the Hispanic community. 4. Bilingual/Proficiency in writing, reading, and speaking in English and Spanish. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
1. Represent the Vice President for Diversity, Inclusion, and Strategic Initiatives when called upon. 2. Work closely with and supervise the Center for Latin@ Studies. 3. Develop, implement, and assess programming and initiatives in furtherance of the DEIB plan and climate assessments. 4. Develop and manage an appropriate strategy and an operational plan for engagement with Hispanic communities throughout the state, particularly in West Michigan. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruitment and retention activities of Hispanic students throughout the state. 5.Work collaboratively with the Diversity, Inclusion, and Strategic Initiatives Office to develop and implement strategies and initiatives that advance DEIB at the University. 6 Work collaboratively across all divisions and units on campus 7. Work closely with and supervise the Center for Latin@ Studies. 8. Plan, supervise, and coordinate partnership activity between Ferris State University and Hispanic businesses and Hispanic-serving organizations throughout the state of Michigan. 9. Engage prospective clients, partners, and communities for various educational programs, events, activities, and networking opportunities. 10. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. 11. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members. |
