Summary of Position: |
Provide independent administrative oversight and support to accomplish the goals of Ferris State University, pertaining to Public School Academies (Charter Schools).
The anticipated start date of this positions is January 2024. However, this is an estimate and can be revised if needed. |

Required Education: |
Master’s degree in appropriate discipline.

Required Work Experience: |
Five years of progressive experience in or working with K-12 administration. Experience supervising and evaluating staff. Experience building partnerships. Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, program evaluation, and assessing program effectiveness. Demonstrated skill complying with local, state, and federal laws and regulations pertaining to K - 12 education. Experience collaborating effectively with school boards to align organizational goals with legislation, needs, and expectations. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
1. Represent Ferris State University in official charter school activities. 2. Hire and supervise staff for FSU charter school office. 3. Review Charter School applications and make recommendations for authorization to the VP/Provost and Board of Trustees. 4. Work with charter schools to review nominees for charter school boards and recommend to FSU Board of Trustees. 5. Continually review the activity of each FSU-authorized charter school for compliance with all rules, regulations, and requirements, as set forth in the charter school authorization agreement. 6. Ensure that all federal, state, and local laws applicable to public charter schools are followed. 7. Develop and oversee the Charter School Office budget. 8. Participate in charter school evaluations pertaining to academy re-authorization recommendations. 9.Oversee all reports to academies and academy Boards of Directors regarding academic and fiscal performance. 10. Maintain currency in teaching, learning and educational policies areas. 11. Participate in and represent FSU at professional charter school organizations. 12. Collaborate with FSU Offices of Scholarships and Admissions regarding opportunities at FSU for charter school students. 13. Provide leadership to advance FSU-chartered schools and enhance their educational programs. 14. Attend, coordinate and/or present at workshops, seminars and conferences related to areas of responsibility. 15. Serve and/or chair on various University and community committees. 16. Engage in ongoing professional development. 17. Maintain the confidentiality of designated information. 18. Responsible for the training, supervision, and professional development of assigned staff within area of responsibility. 19. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with University policies and applicable laws. 20. Occasional travel to Ferris-authorized charter schools, attendance at board meetings, meetings at Ferris, and active participation in training sessions will be required. The position also calls for flexibility in accommodating extended and variable work schedules as necessary. 21.Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. 22. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. Directly responsible to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. |
