Advertised Salary: $75,000 - $85,000. Salary commensurate with education, experiences and other requirements. Comprehensive benefit package (healthcare, vacation, etc.)

Summary of Position: The Design Program has a long and successful history of preparing graduates for Design careers, excelling as Graphic Designers, Interaction Designers, UX Designers, Product Designers, and more. The program is uniquely situated in the College of Business and addresses the importance of communication, community, and business context. The selected candidate must be able to teach multiple subject areas within all levels of the design curriculum as well as courses serving non-design majors. Additionally, the selected candidate will excel in the areas of graphic design, brand identity design, and the creation of desirable and useful user experience, as well as work with digital design technology that meets the demands of the current professional design practice. Focus on student-centered learning, engage in a collaborative teaching environment, participate in the design community, and stress the importance of self-discovery, peer learning, and collaboration within the classroom. This is a full-time position on the main campus in Big Rapids. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2024 at the earliest and January of 2025 at the latest.  
Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing  
Required Education: BFA/BS in Design related discipline. Pursuit of masters in related discipline. Completion of masters required within a set time frame determined at time of hire.  
Required Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communication design, art direction, and the technology tools that meet the demands of the current professional design practice in print and digital media. Demonstrated interest in creating and evaluating design curriculum. Demonstrate involvement in professional organizations and community service. Must be technically proficient in tools and software.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: MFA, MBA, MA or MS in a design related discipline.  
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Teach in multiple subject areas.
Manage multiple projects and situations.
Integrate current technology into the learning environment.
Work in support of teaching and professional services.
Contribute to the further development of a strong design curriculum.
Develop new course content and/or maintain and manage existing courses.
Assess the quality and progress of new curriculum development with other design faculty.

Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in university committees, departmental activities and initiatives, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in functions which have academic significance. Faculty may be required to teach on-campus or in an online environment.

Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students faculty, staff and community members.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
