Summary of Position: Under administrative direction of the Supervisor of Academic Support and Structured Learning Assistance, assist with Tutoring and SLA program initiatives.

The anticipated start date of this position is January 2024. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.
 
Position Type: Staff  
Required Education: Associate Degree in Education, Psychology, Computer Science, Liberal Arts, Social Science, Statistics or as appropriate from an accredited college or university.  
Required Work Experience: One or more years of experience or comparable work-related experience in an educational setting preferred.  
Required Licenses and Certifications: None  
Physical Demands: Office Environment  
Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Bachelor's degree in relevant field strongly preferred.  
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the development of tutoring and SLA materials.
2. Review relevant study skills material and content software and make recommendations for purchase.
3. Remain current on best practices for student success.
4. Assist with SLA and tutor timecards and salaries for accuracy.
5. Respond in a timely manner to student, staff, and faculty inquiries.
6. Promote student success.
Essential Duties:
1. Meet with students individually or in small groups to facilitate study skills and other retention activities.
2. Communicate effectively with students, staff, faculty and visitors.
3. Assist with facilitating tutor and SLA training, workshops and staff meetings.
4. Attend training, workshops, and Staff meetings as requested.
5. Enter data and other information into stats and tutoring database.
6. Be familiar and remain current with Center computer software, hardware and other technology.
7. Assist in the development of tutoring and SLA materials, technologies and
reports.
8. In the absence of the Supervisor, supervise, monitor and manage the activities of the tutors, office assistants and SLA facilitators.
9. Stay abreast of best practices and trends in tutoring and academic support programs.
10. Complete projects as requested by Supervisor.
11. Ability to work in a multicultural environment; strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
12. Manage appointment books, i.e. schedule/cancel appointments scheduled per student and no shows, etc.
13. Assist with the selection and recruitment of tutors and SLA facilitators.
14. Enter tutoring appointments into stats database.
15. Be familiar with Center computer software programs and assist tutors and students with using programs.
16. Develop and facilitate workshops on strategies such as memory skills, note
taking, studying, textbook reading, time management and test taking skills.
17. Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

5. Communicate effectively with a variety of students, faculty, staff and visitors in a variety of situations from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
6. Strong technology skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
7. Perform other related work duties as assigned by supervisor.
8. Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
