Although there is no music major program at Ferris State University, Instrumental Music at Ferris has a proud history of more than 115 years on campus and in the greater community surrounding Big Rapids, Michigan. The primary responsibilities of this position include directing the University-Community Concert Band and the Jazz Band, and also assisting with the Athletic Bands. Additional teaching responsibilities may include one or more of the following: Symphony Band, Beginning Class Piano, Music Fundamentals (pre-Music Theory), and/or Music Appreciation-type course(s). Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment.
