Summary of Position: • Under the general direction of the Registrar or their designee.
• The Assistant Registrar will independently review student-athletes and certify those eligible for practice or competition in compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) bylaws.
• This position will process National Student Clearinghouse enrollment reporting data in collaboration with the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid to maintain Title-IV compliance.

Required Education: • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.  
Required Work Experience: • Two years of work experience in an office setting where data organization, accuracy and attention to detail are important.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: • Professional work experience in higher education, preferably within enrollment services or academic affairs.
• Professional experience with NCAA, especially eligibility regulations.
• Understanding and experience with student system software such as Banner.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Serve as a certifying official of Ferris State for NCAA eligibility and as one of the University employees who are authorized to contact the NCAA.
• Review student records to determine athletic eligibility or ineligibility. Approve student class changes to ensure compliance with NCAA. Work with faculty and academic advisors to resolve problems.
• Prepare and sign a variety of University detailed reports and rosters as required by NCAA.
• Advise and/or train University employees on various NCAA issues.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge, evaluate, interpret federal and NCAA requirements to ensure University compliance.
• Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
• Utilize the NCAA legislative database to research, analyze, and make various interpretations based on the data.
• Develop and analyze reports and data for accuracy and investigate and resolve discrepancies in accordance with various University, federal, or NCAA procedures/policies/regulations.
• Process with National Student Clearinghouse enrollment reporting and error resolution.
• Effectively communicate with NSC to navigate situations surrounding enrollment reporting.
• Manage and analyze reports and data for accuracy, including NCAA eligibility reports and NSC enrollment reports.
• Maintain current knowledge of Ellucian Banner software, NCAA bylaws, and Ferris processes/policies.
• Implement changes necessitated by regulatory updates.
• Coordinate NCAA player eligibility between the athletic, academic, and student affairs departments.
• Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
• Works cooperatively with all University departments to ensure compliance.
• Draft and send communications from the Registrar's Office to faculty, staff, and students.
• Serve as liaison to faculty, staff, students, and other offices and off-campus constituents.
• Serve as Registrar's Office representative on various committees.
• Maintain confidentiality of designated information.
• Deal with highly sensitive information in a tactful and courteous manner.
• Communicate effectively with a diverse group of students, parents, outside agencies.
• Responsibilities may involve occasional evening and weekend work.
• Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
