Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) in Grand Rapids, MI prepares artists and designers to have impact through practice. Full time faculty members at KCAD teach 18 semester credit hours per academic year, typically 3 courses each fall and spring semester. As a KCAD faculty member, you will engage in three kinds of professional development: continuous improvement in teaching effectiveness, creative and/or scholarly contribution within your discipline, and a college service commitment that includes committee work and community engagement for the advancement of KCAD’s mission. The program prepares students for careers in the fashion industry through key studio classes integrating concept development, design, materials, garment construction, pattern-making, draping, drawing, digital technologies and research/development. Program includes fashion shows, community collaborations, a fashion lab, and support courses in General Education and Art History add broader context to the program; with an optional senior year experience at the Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC. Teaching assignments will include but are not limited to: design process for fashion and function, construction, patternmaking, draping, and textiles, as framed by the program outline. The faculty member should form a bridge between the students' academic/studio learning and the profession; thus, applicants should demonstrate significant experience in apparel design/development and a continuing, active connection to the fashion design industry. KCAD is seeking a full-time faculty for Foundations. The First Year Experience / Foundations program offers hands-on, integrative, studio-based courses utilizing both analog and digital formats. The program is currently seeking candidates to teach foundation courses. This position will start in August, 2025. Courses are to be taught in person on KCAD’s campus in Grand Rapids, MI. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. Full time faculty members at KCAD teach 18 semester credit hours per academic year. Teaching assignments within the BFA Photography Program include a full range of technical, aesthetic, and theoretical subjects from beginning camera and darkroom usage, lighting and digital applications, to the senior thesis project. Teaching assignments may include courses outside of the Photography program. Courses are to be taught in person on KCAD’s campus in Grand Rapids, MI. The candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. Required: MFA in Photography (or) MFA in Studio Art. Minimum of two years of university or college-level teaching experience beyond teaching assistantships. Assistant Professor - Teacher Education	Big Rapids, MI 49307
The School of Education seeks applications for an Assistant Professor to teach foundational and methodological courses in elementary, secondary, and/or early childhood education. Duties will include attending department meetings, advising early childhood, elementary and secondary education students, and participating in accreditation process, etc. Teaching on-campus and off-campus courses, face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous online courses will be based on department need. Courses are to be taught in person on Ferris State University's Main Campus. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The start date of this position is August 2025. Required: Ed. D. or Ph.D. in education or closely related field completed by Aug. 1, 2025. Minimum of 18 credits in elementary, secondary, or early childhood education at a master's level or higher. Teacher certification or ability to become certified. 3-5 years of experience teaching birth to grade 12. (Two years part-time is equivalent to one year full-time.).
Adjunct Instructor 1 - Architecture and Facility Management	Big Rapids, MI 49307
The Architecture and Facility Management Department seeks applications for a part-time, temporary faculty position. Responsibilities involve teaching one or more courses in the following degree programs: AAS in Architectural Technology or BS in Architecture and Sustainability. In addition to the more common topics associated with the degree programs, experience in architectural design, construction detailing and documents utilizing AutoCAD and Revit, digital architectural presentation utilizing software such as Revit, Formit, Autodesk 3DS Max, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, will be considered. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is January 2025 at the earliest and August 2025 at the latest. Required: For 100 and 200 level courses: A Bachelor of Science in Architecture. For 300 and 400 level courses: A Bachelor or Master of Architecture, or a Bachelor of Science in Architecture plus a master’s degree in a related field such as building science, design studies, landscape architecture, commensurate with the topic being taught.
