Adjunct Instructor 1 – Reading – Ferris State University. This position has responsibilities for teaching Foundations – Analytical Reading or Analytical Reading at Ferris State University. Instruction will focus on providing students with the opportunity to become critical readers by increasing vocabulary, enhancing reading comprehension and recall, and improving reading skills to better prepare for college level reading. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. This posting is being used for face to face and/or online instruction. However, the candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2024 at the earliest and January 2025 at the latest. However, these are estimated dates and can be revised if needed. Assistant Professor of Design Big Rapids, MI 49307
Assistant Professor of Design – Ferris State University. The Design Program has a long and successful history of preparing graduates for Design careers, excelling as Graphic Designers, Interaction Designers, UX Designers, Product Designers, and more. The program is uniquely situated in the College of Business and addresses the importance of communication, community, and business context. The selected candidate must be able to teach multiple subject areas within all levels of the design curriculum as well as courses serving non-design majors. Additionally, the selected candidate will excel in the areas of graphic design, brand identity design, and the creation of desirable and useful user experience, as well as work with digital design technology that meets the demands of the current professional design practice. Focus on student-centered learning, engage in a collaborative teaching environment, participate in the design community, and stress the importance of self-discovery, peer learning, and collaboration within the classroom. This is a full-time position on the main campus in Big Rapids. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2024 at the earliest and January of 2025 at the latest. Required: BFA/BS in Design related discipline. Pursuit of masters in related discipline. Completion of masters required within a set time frame determined at time of hire. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in communication design, art direction, and the technology tools that meet the demands of the current professional design practice in print and digital media. The Assistant Manager assists the Manager with day-to-day operations of both campus stores (Big Rapids & Grand Rapids), including the administration of the textbook and course material ordering program offered in partnership with the contracted online textbook partner. The Assistant Manager assists in the administration of operational policies, procedures and processes along with merchandise receiving, data entry, merchandising, and the stocking of products. This position assists with the training and supervision of student and part-time staff and is responsible for both store activities in the absence of the Campus Store Manager. Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
