Summary of Position: |
The Graphic Media Management (GMAN) Program has a long and successful history of preparing graduates for print media production and management careers, project management, job engineering cost estimation and process improvement, workflow automation and more. The program is uniquely situated in the College of Business Marketing Department and addresses the importance of communication, community, and business context.
The selected candidate must be able to teach multiple subject areas within all levels of the graphic communications (GCOM) and GMAN curriculum. Additionally, the selected candidate will excel in the areas of print production planning/engineering, cost estimating and analysis, the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of Heidelberg QM 46 presses, CTP, digital toner and inkjet printing, print cutting, folding and binding. Focus on student-centered learning, engage in a collaborative teaching environment, participate in the print media community, and stress the importance of self-discovery, peer learning, and collaboration within the classroom. This is a full-time position on the main campus in Big Rapids.
The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2024 at the earliest and January 2025 at the latest. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Teach in multiple subject areas.
Manage multiple projects and situations. . Integrate current technology into the learning environment.
Work in support of teaching and professional services.
Contribute to the further development of a strong GCOM & GMAN curriculum.
Maintain graphic equipment and computer environment.
Manage the operations of the student run “Print Production Lab” to serve the design and other business students and college.
Recruiting of new students to the GCOM & GMAN program.
Develop new course content and/or maintain and manage existing courses.
Assess the quality and progress of new curriculum development with other department faculty.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with industry stakeholders such as vendors, employers, high school technology centers.
Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in university committees, departmental activities and initiatives, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty may be required to teach on-campus or in an online environment.
Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
