Summary of Position: Are you passionate about higher education, student success, and building meaningful relationships? The College of Engineering Technology (CET) at Ferris State University is seeking a Recruiting and Engagement Officer to lead recruitment, retention, engagement, and stakeholder development efforts. This dynamic role connects prospective students, current students, alumni, industry partners, and donors to CET’s mission of providing hands-on, high-impact education.

This position plays a vital role in fostering student enrollment and retention while elevating the visibility of CET programs across the region and beyond.

As part of CET, you'll join a team dedicated to hands-on learning, industry partnerships, and student success. You’ll have the opportunity to build programs, foster community, and play a key role in shaping the future Bulldog graduates.

The anticipated start date for this position is September of 2025. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

 
Required Work Experience: Experience in student recruitment, engagement, outreach, or a related area (e.g., admissions, marketing, alumni relations, event coordination, or similar).

Demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, and implement events or programs.

Proficiency in publishing on social media platforms.

Experience collecting and analyzing data to support decision-making and assess program effectiveness.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Familiarity with marketing tools, and basic design or communication software (e.g., Meta, Canva, Adobe, Microsoft Office).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to represent CET professionally and persuasively.

Familiarity with CET’s programs and mission.

Experience in student services, outreach, admissions, or related areas.

Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate across multiple entities.

 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Recruitment and Outreach: Represent CET at career fairs, high schools, technical centers, and community colleges. Build awareness and enthusiasm for our programs and student opportunities.

Student Engagement: Design and implement strategies to encourage student participation in college activities and events.

Event Planning: Organize alumni reunions, student engagement initiatives, and stakeholder networking events.

Stakeholder Relationships: Build lasting relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including alumni, donors, and industry partners.

Fundraising Support: Collaborate with University Advancement and Marketing to support donor cultivation and engagement efforts.

Marketing and Communications: Develop and manage recruitment marketing efforts, including print materials, digital newsletters, and social media.

Data Tracking and Analysis: Maintain CET’s recruitment and engagement database. Monitor metrics and prepare reports to assess outreach effectiveness.

Ability to travel and work occasionally on evenings and weekends, as required for events or outreach activities.

Operates university motor or personal vehicles safely while carrying out job responsibilities.

Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.

Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
