Field Placement Specialist Multiple Locations
The School of Education seeks applications for a Field Placement Coordinator position, which involves placing students in clinical experiences in early childhood and PK-12 schools, maintaining student placement and required databases, working collaboratively with School of Education faculty, staff, and other placement coordinators, and auditing and maintaining records for student teacher and pre-student teacher applicants. Additionally, responsibilities include building effective relationships with PK-12 school personnel, collaborating with faculty and university supervisors to support students during clinical supervision, upholding all School of Education policies and procedures, providing orientation and information sessions related to clinical experiences at least twice per semester, participating in student teaching seminars, attending department meetings and field experience ad hoc committees, and traveling to develop and foster partnerships with schools and centers for early childhood, elementary, and secondary internships throughout Michigan as needed. The primary office will be maintained at Ferris State University's Flint Campus at Mott Community College, with work performed in the eastern Michigan region and, as needed, in western Michigan. The anticipated start date for this position is June 2026. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed. Adjunct Instructor - Heavy Equipment Multiple Locations
The College of Engineering Technology is seeking adjunct instructors to teach Heavy Equipment courses. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses or approved FSU sites. The College of Engineering Technology is seeking qualified applicants to teach AAS degree-level coursework in the College of Engineering Technology. This position requires moving instruments and equipment up to 50 lbs both on campus and to various off-site locations in the local community for summer band rehearsal and concerts. Some driving may be needed to transport equipment to and from concert locations. The lead faculty will assign projects as needed, including photocopying, filing, distributing and collecting sheet music folders to/from musicians. Summer Band Assistants must be dependable, responsible, timely, flexible, thorough, and accountable for their work. Standby Center Tutor 1 (Student Position) Big Rapids, MI 49307
A standby center tutor supports students who need academic assistance across various subject areas. This role involves providing tutoring during the Tutoring Center's operational hours on an as-needed basis. Standby tutoring means tutors are hired based on potential needs and are available on demand. Standby tutors are not guaranteed hours but are expected to be available when there is a need or demand for on-site tutoring. For example, if a student needs help with a specific course and a standby tutor has availability in Navigate, the student can schedule a tutoring session. The tutor will receive an email nomination and then meet the student in the Tutoring Center to provide academic support. The Standby Center Tutor provides supplemental academic support through tutoring activities designed to reinforce course concepts and aid student mastery of course content. This position supports, but does not replace, instructional faculty. This position is not eligible for remote work. All compensated work must be performed from an approved university location. The position may include virtual delivery of tutoring to students; however, virtual delivery must occur while the student employee is physically working from an approved university location. Student employees in this role are not instructors and may not perform duties reserved for instructional faculty, including creating or revising syllabi, designing or assigning graded coursework, assessing learning for grades, grading student work, managing Canvas or other LMS course functions, delivering required instruction on behalf of faculty, substituting for faculty, making course policy decisions, or completing compensated work already assigned to instructional faculty. The role is limited to supplemental academic support, facilitation of learning activities, and student-success support.
