Summary of Position: The Unit of Student Life at Ferris State University invites applications for a grant-funded, full-time Violence Prevention Coordinator. The Coordinator will be responsible for leading our Anti-Violence Alliance, for continued implementation and expansion of our prevention education programs, and for enhancing our education and intervention resources and services to meet the needs of all our students across the main campus, Kendall College, and all twenty-two statewide locations. This position is funded through a partnership with the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence through February 28, 2023. There is no guarantee for employment beyond the current grant cycle; however, it is our hope to sustain our efforts and retain this position through additional grant or other funding. Required Education: Bachelor's degree  
Required Work Experience: Two years of experience in primary prevention and training around sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. Priority will be give to applicants with experience working in a University setting, providing victim/survivor services, working with law enforcement agencies, and/or working with traditionally under-served or marginalized populations, particularly students of color, students with disabilities, engaging men, and LGBTQ+ students.

Required Licenses and Certifications:    
Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Preference given to individuals with a Master’s degree and those with professional experience and interest in trauma-informed practices, assessment, and working with multiple community partners or organizations to provide services.  
Duties/Responsibilities: Work with the MCEDSV team to implement Greening Spaces initiatives through the DELTA Impact Grant on Ferris State University's Campus, Big Rapids, and Mecosta County. Additionally, integrate DELTA Impact Grant funded deliverables & initiatives at Ferris State University.

Attend required trainings as assigned by MCEDSV supervisory, including successful completion of New Service Provider Training and MCEDSV Michigan Prevention Model within six months of hire.

To continue and deepen the work plan created by the Anti-Violence Alliance in a sustainable and strategic way that includes continued implementation of Bringing in the Bystander Training and all other prevention, education, and awareness programming efforts for all incoming students, athletes, fraternities and sororities, and student leaders.

Supervise 10-15 Peer Educators including recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, developing and evaluating Peer Educators. 

Implement Memorandums of Understanding with local and Grand Rapids Sexual Assault Support Agencies to enhance campus prevention, education, awareness, and advocacy services.

Create competitive Graduate Assistant job descriptions appealing to students at Ferris State University as well as other regional Universities.

Work with Soteria Solutions (Bringing in the Bystander) to modify Bringing in the Bystander to be more inclusive and accessible for all students.

Outreach to the leadership of student groups including fraternity and sorority life, athletics, club sports, registered student organizations, and statewide campus locations to provide tailored educational programming around sexual violence.

Develop new student led, peer to peer, sexual violence prevention programs for students who have already been trained in Bringing in the Bystander.

Enhance current training for faculty, staff, and student advocates to include trauma-informed response, self-care, and awareness of resources.

Continue to develop and implement evaluation tools to assess programs. Review program reports, participant evaluations, statistical data, and other relevant information to make recommendations on scope, size, and the nature of future programs. 

Learn about, explore, and pursue (if found to be promising for our campus), Situational Interventions (a model at Williams College) that uses environmental strategies to change the physical, social, and cultural factors that facilitate violence.

Collaborate with the largest Registered Student Organizations including but not limited to fraternity and sorority life, athletics, club sports, and statewide campus locations to provide tailored educational programming around sexual violence.

Collaborate with Athletics to create an ongoing educational plan to prevent sexual violence for all NCAA student athletes.

Other duties as assigned.
