Summary of Position: Provides responsible, independent complex bookkeeping, record keeping, and/or accounting support.

Required Education: An associate degree in Accounting, Data Processing, Business or equivalent work experience.

Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. Equivalency for education is two years of work experience equals one year of education.
Required Work Experience: Two years accounting experience, with an emphasis in customer service.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:    
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Utilize the current financial software as well as the Concur expense system.

Monitor and maintain all general fund and auxiliary accounts. Tasks and processes include: Purchasing card reconciliation and management, initiating requisitions and purchase orders, processing all vendor billing, and resolving issues/problems as needed.

Participate in and prepare reports for a monthly financial meeting with the Dean’s Office to discuss balances, transfers needed and deficits.

Prepare bi-weekly payroll submissions and resolve issues/problems as needed with timesheet management and monitor pay distribution.

Assist with Commencement activities.

Assist with New Student Orientation.

Be cross-trained in other specialized areas within the office.

Performs all duties in compliance with applicable University policies and procedures and state and federal requirements.

Reports directly to designated supervisor.

Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information.
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Be cross-trained in other specialized areas within the office.

Skills and Abilities: Ability to interview, hire, direct, and train lower level employees.

Communicate effectively with a diverse customer population.

Meet deadlines, demonstrate excellent organization and analytical skills.

Operate a variety of office machines and equipment.

Perform mathematical functions and advanced bookkeeping, accounting, recordkeeping with accuracy and attention to detail.

Plan, organize and make sound judgments and decisions.

Understand and maintain current knowledge of special terminology and regulations.

Use computer software and mainframe programs and systems.

Utilize the rules of proper grammar, correct spelling and punctuation, and proper arrangement of information.
