Summary of Position: |
Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) prepares artists and designers to have an impact through practice. Responsibilities for a KCAD adjunct faculty member include syllabus and class preparation, instruction during scheduled course time, providing reasonable availability to students for consultation and assistance with respect to assigned course(s), and evaluation of student performance.
The KCAD M.Arch is an ambitious new program, established in 2014 and accredited by the NAAB in 2019. Situated within an art and design college, and located in the center of Grand Rapids, MI, the program values interdisciplinary connections and community engagement. Its curriculum is structured around a unique sequence of immersive seminars paired with design studios. The program is seeking candidates to teach early-level or advanced design studio, and/or the introductory seminar Seeing Architecture, all of which will be offered in-person on KCAD’s campus in Grand Rapids. Positions are part-time and may lead to renewal for future teaching opportunities.

Required Education: |
A NAAB-accredited Master of Architecture degree or A NAAB-accredited Bachelor of Architecture degree, plus a post-professional Master of Science degree in a closely related field such as landscape architecture, urban planning, or building science. |

Required Work Experience: |
Three years of experience in professional practice and/or teaching in architecture and related fields. |

Ph.D. in Architecture or D.Arch. US architectural licensure. Demonstrated professional track record of excellence in built projects. Demonstrated record of scholarly and creative projects. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Prepare syllabus and class according to college standards and distribute syllabi. Teach appropriate course(s) as assigned. Assess and evaluate student learning and provide formative feedback throughout the course. Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members. Provide reasonable availability to students for consultation and assistance with respect to assigned course(s). Evaluate student performance. Contribute to the intellectual life of the program. Maintain effective communication with students and colleagues. Work collaboratively with faculty, students and staff throughout the college. |

Demonstrated proficiency in architectural design or building systems design. Demonstrated commitment, experience and understanding for diversity, equity and inclusion.
