The Educational Counselor’s primary duties are educational counseling including academic support programming, disability and accessibility accommodations processes and support, and career support for students. This position is primarily located in Big Rapids and assists students in the College of Pharmacy with additional assistance to KCAD and the Michigan College of Optometry as time permits and will include occasional travel to other campus locations. The position works closely with the College of Pharmacy Assistant Dean of Student Success (ADSS) to help ensure compliance with all accreditation standards related to student services. This position assists with key student experiences such as recruitment events, orientation, career fairs, ceremonial events (ex: White Coat Ceremony, Doctoral Hooding Ceremony). The Program Coordinator for Select Student Support Services (4S) serves as the primary liaison for the Determined Dawgs Scholar Academy (DDSA). DDSA is a selective, four-week summer bridge program designed to support conditionally admitted freshmen in their transition to Ferris State University. The program primarily serves students who may be the first in their family to attend college, require additional academic support, or come from under-resourced communities. The Program Coordinator for Select Student Support Services (4S) serves as the primary liaison for the Determined Dawgs Scholar Academy (DDSA). DDSA is a selective, four-week summer bridge program designed to support conditionally admitted freshmen in their transition to Ferris State University. The program primarily serves students who may be the first in their family to attend college, require additional academic support, or come from under-resourced communities. In this role, the coordinator facilitates communication and collaboration among program staff, university departments, and external partners to ensure a holistic approach to student success.
