Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs Big Rapids, MI 49307
Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs – Ferris State University. Reporting to the Dean, and serving as the Chief Academic Officer, the Associate Dean plays an important leadership role in the daily operations and strategy of MCO, providing ongoing program curriculum and course delivery oversight as well as the evaluation and assessment of student learning outcomes and coordination of student services. The Associate Dean oversees all academic and student-related functions at MCO, including oversight of the curriculum, assessment, faculty schedules, student schedules, disciplinary actions, development of policy letters, and faculty and student handbooks. Student affairs duties include oversight of recruitment, admissions, registration, financial aid, recruiting, scholarship and awards, counseling, student records, and student organizations. The Associate Dean serves as a member of the MCO Executive Committee, Student Administrative Committee, Faculty Administrative Committee, and assumes the responsibilities and authority of the Dean when the Dean is unavailable. The ideal candidate will have a Doctor of Optometry degree (OD) from an ACOE-accredited institution or a clinically-equivalent degree in Ophthalmology (i.e., MD, DO) and be license eligible in the state of Michigan. Successful Associate Dean candidates will have a significant leadership role in graduate-level clinical education with a substantial history of experience in curricular development and innovations, educational assessment, the latest trends in education and experience with accreditation standards. Preferred candidates should also have demonstrated success working well with faculty, administration, and students; training and/or experience in student advising and counseling; and a commitment to diversity. A track-record of scholarship and contributions at the national level is highly desired.

The Design Program has a long and successful history of preparing graduates for Design careers, excelling as Graphic Designers, Interaction Designers, UX Designers, Product Designers, and more. The program is uniquely situated in the College of Business and addresses the importance of communication, community, and business context. The selected candidate must be able to teach multiple subject areas within all levels of the design curriculum as well as courses serving non-design majors. Additionally, the selected candidate will excel in the areas of graphic design, brand identity design, and the creation of desirable and useful user experience, as well as work with digital design technology that meets the demands of the current professional design practice. Focus on student-centered learning, engage in a collaborative teaching environment, participate in the design community, and stress the importance of self-discovery, peer learning, and collaboration within the classroom.
