Instructor/Assistant Professor of Illustration (Full-time term appointment, non-tenure track) in Grand Rapids, MI 49503
Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) in Grand Rapids, MI prepares artists and designers to have impact through practice. Fulltime faculty members at KCAD teach 18 semester credit hours per academic year, typically 3 courses each fall and spring semester. As a KCAD term appointment faculty member, you will engage in three kinds of professional development: continuous improvement in teaching effectiveness, creative and/or scholarly contribution within your discipline, and a college service commitment that includes committee work and community engagement for the advancement of KCAD’s mission. You will actively advise students regarding their academic plan and progress as well as their co-curricular and post-graduation opportunities. This is a full-time, term (temporary), non-tenure-track faculty appointment with the possibility of renewal. Courses are to be taught in person on KCAD’s campus in Grand Rapids. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The Illustration Program challenges students to express ideas, engage the narrative, and communicate specifically and effectively both traditionally and digitally. A course of study emphasizing the history, technique, production, and critique of illustration prepares graduates for a wide variety of opportunities in illustration including natural science illustration, children’s book illustration, comic book, editorial, and freelance work. Teaching assignments within the BFA Illustration Program include a full range of technical, aesthetic, and theoretical subjects from beginning to advanced level.

Recruitment and Admissions Administrator in Big Rapids, MI 49307
A full-time, 3 year temporary position that will direct and expand the College's existing recruitment efforts and coordinate all admission processes. The Recruitment and Admissions Administrator will report to the Assistant Dean of Student Success. The position will require substantial contact, virtual and in-person, with prospective students, applicants, and newly admitted students both internal to the University and from external colleges and universities. The administrator will work closely with the Assistant Dean and the College's Admissions Committee to implement a comprehensive recruitment strategy reliant on both traditional recruitment efforts and social media marketing. The admissions process will be directed by the Admissions Committee and the Recruitment and Admissions Administrator will assist with advancement of the College’s holistic process. Direct contact with prospective students and applicants will require effective interpersonal and communication skills. Event planning and participation in recruitment events will be required and may involve evenings and weekends and regional travel. Effective interface with the PharmCAS application portal will require computer skills and a working knowledge of the portal. The Recruitment/Admissions Administrator will be expected to have a working knowledge of the College and its curriculum and be able to properly triage inquiries to the Assistant Dean and Admissions Committee Chair. The anticipated start date for this position is April of 2025. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.
