    The Public Safety Officer is a sworn law enforcement position which involves protecting life and property, and the preservation of peace and good order through the enforcement of laws, ordinances, and policy. Duties include responding to emergency and non-emergency police calls for service, responsibility for performing assigned police work of varying degree of difficulty, utilizing community-oriented/problem-solving techniques which include community engagement, resource development, the enforcement of laws and ordinances, crime prevention, detection and investigation, apprehension of violators, and other related police functions.     Ferris State University's Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD) in Grand Rapids, MI, prepares artists and designers to have impact through practice. Responsibilities for a KCAD adjunct faculty member include syllabus and class preparation, instruction during scheduled course time, providing reasonable availability to students for consultation and assistance with respect to assigned course(s), evaluation of student performance, submission of final grades on the FSU Banner system, and archiving of both course material and student work as requested by the program chair and/or the Dean of the College. The mission of the Graphic Design program of Ferris State University's Kendall College of Art and Design (KCAD) is to graduate problem-solving, critical-thinking design innovators and creative communicators who are skilled in the latest technology, able to work collaboratively in a studio environment, and are passionate about art, design, and contemporary culture. Teaching assignments within the BFA Graphic Design Program include a series of introductory to intermediate design-related content and software/technology-based courses, for example, introductory and immediate typography, publication design and production management, and contemporary media (web and application design). Courses are to be taught in person on KCAD’s campus in Grand Rapids, MI. Online course delivery may be an option. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2025 at the earliest and January 2026 at the latest. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.

  • Adjunct Instructor 1 - Dental Hygiene Clinical in Big Rapids, MI 49307

    Supervision and evaluation of students in pre-clinical, clinical, and laboratory dental hygiene sessions, dental radiology, oral science or dental materials lab sessions. Will work at the direction of the Dental Hygiene Clinic Operations Supervisor. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is August of 2025 at the earliest and January 2026 at the latest. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed. Required: Bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from an accredited dental hygiene program, or a related field. Must be a Registered Dental Hygienist with certification in local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, CPR, and licensed to practice in the State of Michigan. Two years clinical experience.

  • Adjunct Instructor 3 - Forensics/Debate & Communication (3 year appointment) in Big Rapids, MI 49307

    The Humanities Department seeks applications for a Level 3 adjunct instructor in Forensics/Debate & Communication. This is a 3-year (9-month) appointment. This position may carry a dual responsibility of teaching and up to a 50% coaching load. The primary duties are to serve as the Coach of the Forensics/Debate Team and to teach two foundational undergraduate communication courses. 1) Forensics/Debate Team Coach (up to 50%) – The Coach will lead a dynamic and comprehensive forensics program, which may include individual events, various debate formats, and other relevant competitive activities. Responsibilities include: Overseeing team operations, including planning and organizing travel, budgeting, and student recruitment and retention. Collaborating closely with departmental leadership and the Communication Area Coordinator. Advising the university’s chapter of Pi Kappa Delta (chartered in 1960), with opportunities to engage with the national alumni chapter. The program benefits from over 65 years of strong institutional support and a tradition of excellence grounded in the values of Pi Kappa Delta. 2) Teaching Responsibilities – The selected candidate will teach two or more core undergraduate courses in Communication. These may include, but are not limited to Public Speaking, Small Group Decision Making and Interpersonal Communication. Depending on departmental needs and the candidate’s qualifications, there may be opportunities to teach upper-level courses in the Communication curriculum. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. The start date for this position is August 2025.. Required: Masters degree in Communication or related field. Experience in Forensics and Debate. Experience teaching undergraduate courses in Public Speaking.

    Educational Counselor/Assistant Professor (12 mos. Tenure-Track) in Big Rapids, MI 49307

    The Educational Counselor’s primary duties are educational counseling including academic support programming, disability and accessibility accommodations processes and support, and career support for students. This position is primarily located in Big Rapids and assists students in the College of Pharmacy with additional assistance to KCAD and the Michigan College of Optometry as time permits and will include occasional travel to other campus locations. The position works closely with the College of Pharmacy Assistant Dean of Student Success (ADSS) to help ensure compliance with all accreditation standards related to student services. This position assists with key student experiences such as recruitment events, orientation, career fairs, ceremonial events (ex: White Coat Ceremony, Doctoral Hooding Ceremony). In addition, it is expected that a collaborative work environment with College and University faculty, staff, and administration, as well as College committees, will be established. Pursuit of research/scholarly activities is encouraged. This is a 12-month tenure-track appointment. Rank is assistant professor. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2025; however, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed. Required: Master’s Degree in Guidance/Counseling, Master’s in Social Work, or Master’s in Counseling Psychology or Rehabilitation Counseling. Ability to meet and maintain State of Michigan licensure requirements in one of the following areas: Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Limited Licensed Master’s Social Work (LLMSW), Licensed Master’s Social Work (LMSW), Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP), Licensed Psychologist (LP), or Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC). Two years of demonstrated post-degree work experience in higher education within the fields of disability, career, or educational counseling.
