Summary of Position:

The selected candidate will teach a minimum of 12 credits or 18 contact hours per semester. Teach evening classes occasionally in Grand Rapids as needed to support our cohort. Advising approximately 30+ students per semester. Recruiting including Dawg Days and visits to high schools or career tech centers. Possible position on exterior advisory committees for educational units. Participate in program meetings and serve on both program, college, and university committees. Engage in program curriculum development and review. Develop new courses as needed.

Position Type: Faculty - Temporary & Continuing  
Required Education: 1. Master's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or appropriate related field. Preference will be given to those candidates with five (5) years full-time US commercial or industry construction experience. OR
2. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or appropriate related field and an MBA plus five years full-time US commercial or industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility OR
3. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or appropriate related field and ten (10) years full-time US commercial or industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
A Master's degree in field or an approved related field will be required prior to tenure.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:    
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Teach full-time during the 9-month academic year. Full-time status is defined by the faculty contract with the university and currently is defined as 24 credit hours per academic year but may be limited by contact hours or student credit hours per the contract.
Teaching occurs primarily face-to-face on the main campus in Big Rapids, MI. However, assignments may include teaching at our Grand Rapids location (approximately a one hour drive from the main campus) or on-line. Assignments are made based upon expertise and faculty load. Typical Grand Rapids course assignments are limited to one evening per week in semesters in which the course is sequenced.
Course assignments may include any course taught within the four-year degree sequence.
Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
Serve on program committees and represent the program on College and University committees.
Maintain records and conduct assessment, advising, and all other administrative features of the position in accordance with policies and procedures developed by the university, college, school, department, and/or program. These duties include use of current university-provided software.
Perform duties in accordance with established University policies.
Act as liaison between the program and professional organizations through active, individual involvement and, potentially as the program-appointed representative.
Enthusiastically support student success through active involvement with individual students and student organizations and student competitions, both within and outside of the classroom.
Remain current in the profession, both in content and licensure, if holding such licenses is considered important in the position.
The position reports to the Director of the School of Built Environment through the Program Coordinator.

Work with colleagues to develop new curricular initiatives.
Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in University committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance. Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
