Advertised Salary: Minimum of $4,059 per 3-credit course, if advanced degree held in primary academic discipline, the minimum rate increases to $4,374 per 3 credit course. Salary commensurate with qualifications pursuant to the FSU and FNTFO/AFT Agreement

Summary of Position: Seeking qualified applicants for a pooled, part-time Instructor position in Information Security and Intelligence to teach dual enrollment (high school students) courses in Detroit, Michigan. Courses will be delivered face-to-face at 1201 Woodward and are planned to meet three days per week (tentatively MWF, between 12pm-3pm) during the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.

Instructors will teach one or more of the following courses: ARTI 113 – Introduction to AI; ISIN 121 – Digital Security Awareness; CLOU 131 – Cloud Computing Fundamentals; and ISIN 209 – Network Security.

Responsibilities include delivering high-quality instruction in a face-to-face format; maintaining academic rigor consistent with university standards; assessing and improving student learning outcomes; and collaborating closely with program faculty. Instructors are encouraged to participate in training and professional development through the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning and are expected to engage in ongoing communication to ensure alignment with departmental curriculum and expectations.

This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired on a semester-by-semester basis as instructional needs arise. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's campuses or FSU approved sites. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan by the first day of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site.

The anticipated start date is August 2026 at the earliest and January 2027 at the latest.

Required Education: Bachelors and/or master’s degree in IT/IS/Security from an accredited college or university with an attained master’s degree from an accredited university.  
Required Work Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant teaching experience.
Three or more years in-field industry or government experience.
 
Required Licenses and Certifications: License or certification in relevant security areas: information security; Information assurance; IT security; data mining and analysis; intelligence analysis; penetration testing; network security; visual/link analysis; digital forensics; secure application development; data base; risk assessment; fraud; ethics.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Experience with teleconferencing technology such as Zoom for working with students remotely.
Experience with Canvas.
Excellent written and oral skills.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Part-time teaching and related responsibilities, including delivery of instruction face-to-face at the Metro Detroit Hub; assuring and improving student learning through assessment; and close consultation and collaboration with program faculty.

Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include but are not limited to: keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex .reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or in an online environment.

Faculty are expected to: assess student learning outcomes for their courses and actively participate in program assessment activities.

Operates a university or personal vehicle safely while carrying out job responsibilities.

Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.

Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives.

Perform any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
