Summary of Position: Provide administrative leadership in developing and implementing strategies to grow and support the University’s portfolio of high-quality online programs and courses for traditional and adult learners. Responsible for building relationships with the Ferris academic and administrative units to achieve strategic planning goals, foster the development and delivery of quality programming, and ensure positive student learning experiences. The individual is responsible for online undergraduate and graduate credit educational programming. This individual may also be required as a resource for non-credit activities. Reports to the Dean of Extended and International Operations.

The anticipated start date for this position is November 2022. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.

Required Education: Master’s Degree.  
Required Work Experience: Five years of full-time or equivalent (2 years part-time equals 1 year full-time) experience with demonstrated experience in project management and strategic planning. Experience in supervision and leading successful teams. Experience in supporting online students, programs, and online faculty.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Doctoral degree in higher education administration, instructional technology, or related field.
Proven leadership capabilities, including navigating in complex organizational settings, working collaboratively with leaders across organizations, strategic planning, human resource management, risk management, financial resource management, and related decision-making.
Experience building collaborative relationships resulting in new program development and excellent customer satisfaction.
Online teaching experience in higher education.
Experience in the administration of online programs and services.
Knowledge of best practices in pedagogy, teaching and learning, faculty professional development, and educational technology.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Develop and implement strategic initiatives for Ferris’ online learning experience in accordance with overall EIO and university strategic plans and recommendations, including enrollment management, student recruitment and retention, and integration with regional operations.
Provide leadership for activities within EIO for the development and ongoing support of online learning, acting as liaison within the University and others to determine emerging needs, resolve issues, and provide communication to stakeholders about changes and issues related to online learning at Ferris.
Provide leadership in the development of new online degree programs designed to meet identified needs of online learners.
Assist with market research and competitive analysis. Conducts and coordinates informal research on the training and education needs of businesses, industries, and professions.
Monitor and assess the effectiveness of online programs, including academic quality, technology infrastructure and platforms, and various support services. Works collaboratively with other university stakeholders to implement recommended changes and improvements.
Direct and coordinate activities of EIO for online learning, including the activities within the administrative office(s). Provides leadership for, and supervision of assigned Ferris personnel supporting our online activities.
Collaborate with college advisors, counselors, faculty, department heads, and deans for the ongoing support of current programs and identifying new potential program areas.
Develop and maintain appropriate university policies and procedures that support the quality and integrity of the university’s online programs.
Stay current on new technologies and trends needed to support online learning.
Oversee budget to ensure fiscal integrity.
Assist the Marketing Director with the marketing and promotion of online programs.
Carry out supervisory responsibilities for those who directly or indirectly report to the director following University policies and applicable laws, including training and development, performance evaluations, and monitoring non-salaried employees' hours.
Monitor all online programs and online procedures for compliance with University policies, accreditation standards, and state and federal requirements including adherence to state authorization requirements for online programs.
Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information.
Demonstrate an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
Reports to the Dean of Extended and International Operations.
 
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Assist with registrations, faculty hiring, student complaint resolution, and other daily activities of the EIO offices.
Attends workshops, seminars, and conferences related to areas of responsibility.
Serves and/or chairs various University and community committees.

Demonstrate expertise in strategic planning and assessment practices.
Team leadership/Project Management skills.
Skilled in the use of online learning technologies.
Demonstrate project management skills and the ability to adhere to deadlines.
Demonstrate good writing, public speaking, and presentation skills.
Utilize the rules of proper grammar, correct spelling and punctuation, and correct arrangement of information.
Function in a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
Demonstrated commitment, experience and understanding for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
