Summary of Position: Reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing with assistance from the Director of Marketing, will write, edit, proofread, track and manage original content for both digital and print marketing communications purposes targeted to a diverse range of internal and external audiences.

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or Communications.  
Required Work Experience: 2+ years of professional experience writing and distributing content across a variety of digital channels (various social media platforms, multimedia sites/services, and website content management systems) and other marketing-related print publications in a professional and/or academic marketing and communications setting.
Experience working with web content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, Omni CMS, etc.) and writing for the web with a SEO focus.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Preferred Work Experience:
Experience working in higher education.
Experience with the Omni CMS/OmniUpdate website content management system.
Experience with Google Analytics.
Google AdWords/Dynamic Display Ads.
Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, standard social media platforms and tools, and project management software.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Write, edit, proofread, track and manage original content for both digital and print marketing communications, including: content for the ferris.edu website, primary marketing materials for student recruitment and brand awareness, digital and print advertising assets, and publications such as Ferris Magazine, annual reports, newsletters, video scripts, special event support materials and scripted remarks, advertising copy, and content for college/department marketing projects.
Assist in advancing the content quality and overall user experience of major content areas of the ferris.edu website.
Assist in advancing the overall institutional branding strategy.
Serve as a project consultant and/or liaison to assist colleges and departments with marketing-related services.
Serve on committees or attend meetings as assigned and assist with duties for team members in their absence.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
 
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.  
Skills and Abilities: Knowledge about generational marketing and communications preferences for different target audiences so materials are appropriate and effective in meeting communication goals.
Experience and demonstrated abilities working within brand standards and guidelines, including brand voice, style and graphic requirements.
Effective project management skills and the ability to multi-task and create high quality content while under deadline-based pressures.
Knowledge of Associated Press and Chicago Manual of Style editorial styles.
Self-motivation with a demonstrated ability to work well with a team.
Demonstrated commitment, experience and understanding for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
