Summary of Position:

There’s always something new happening in the KCAD Galleries! Assistants applying for the position should be ready for a new adventure every day and be willing to become proficient in a variety of skills that can broaden and enhance your career goals. You are the face of the Galleries and the first person our visitors meet. You’ll need to be comfortable engaging with others and promoting current and upcoming exhibitions. You’ll learn about our artists/designers and exhibits, how to repair and prepare gallery spaces, physically handle and install a variety of work, and learn all of the behind-the-scenes tricks of the trade that go into every one of our exhibitions.

Days and times for working are typically between the hours of 9am-6pm Mon-Fri, but expand during the Fall ArtPrize exhibition. You may the the opportunity for up to 10 hrs per week.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: *Preparation of Galleries for Exhibitions: Assist in setting up and taking down exhibitions.
*Greeting and Assisting Guests: Provide information and assistance to gallery visitors.
*Maintain General Cleanliness: Keep galleries and workrooms clean and organized.
*Regular Communication: Stay in touch with other assistants and supervisors to ensure smooth operations.
*Monitoring Galleries and Guarding Artwork: Ensure the security and safety of the artworks on display.
*Familiarity with Opening and Closing Gallery Procedures: Know the steps to properly open and close the gallery.
