Assistant Professor - History Big Rapids, MI 49307
The College of Arts Sciences and Education at Ferris State University seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of History position within the Humanities Department. Teaching will include undergraduate courses. Candidates are expected to foster a meaningful learning experience for our students, faculty are expected to be student oriented, advise, and integrate current technology into the learning environment. Additionally, faculty will participate in collaborative efforts to foster curricular efforts, participate in assessment of student learning, and further develop programmatic enhancement. Specifically, we expect the candidate to be willing to engage students outside the classroom, support and expand our existing academic initiatives, and be willing to mentor students beyond a traditional academic advising role. In support of teaching, candidates will engage in scholarly/professional activities and participate in department, college, and university committees. Off-campus and online teaching may be required. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses or approved FSU sites. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2026. Required: Ph.D. in History by August 1, 2026. Teaching experience in history.
Lead Custodial Supervisor Big Rapids, MI 49307
Position provides custodial supervisory services for Facilities Management for custodial operations. Supervise and coordinate the activities of assigned custodial personnel to maintain and provide quality custodial services for campus facilities. Recommend and establish programs, procedures, performance standards, planning, and budgeting for the custodial department. Manage sanitation and recycling accounts for the Big Rapids campus. May be assigned to work any shift, including nights and weekends. The anticipated shift will be M-F, 8:00 - 5:00 pm. Senior Laboratory Trainer Big Rapids, MI 49307
Classroom and small group instruction for proper laboratory procedures with the Institute for Construction Education (ICET). Monitor written and practical certification examinations. This position is also responsible for developing changes to the laboratory curriculum. These are pooled, part-time positions. One or more applicants may be hired as needed on a semester-by-semester basis. The position will not exceed 28 hours per week. The anticipated start date of these positions is Fall 2026 (preferably August) and Spring 2027 (preferably January). Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Current certifications appropriate to program assignment, such as Michigan Certified Aggregate Technician, Michigan Certified Bituminous Laboratory Technician, Level 1 and/or Michigan Certified Density Technician. Part-time Theatre Technician (9 month) Big Rapids, MI 49307
Part-time Theatre Technician working up to 28 hours per week will assist the Technical Theatre Instructor/Auditorium Manager with all the technical elements for events. This can include sound, scenery, lighting, painting, and running performances in Williams Auditorium. Job schedule will include some days, evenings & weekends. This is a 9-month, part-time (no more than 28 hours per week) position during the academic year (mid- August to mid-May) at the main campus in Big Rapids. KCAD Sponsored Project Intern – Product Development (Student Position) Grand Rapids, MI 49503
KCAD is working in collaboration with researchers, engineers, and physical trainers from a partner institution to develop a prototype medical device that uses an electrical current to measure inflammation in the body. The device will be used to evaluate musculoskeletal (MSK) tissue status and damage over time as patients recover from injury. The KCAD product development team of faculty and student interns will focus on developing a concept and prototype for two aspects of the system: a softgood wearable product for the hands and feet that holds the electronic sensors, and the user experience/interface for the app that presents data to the user. The KCAD team will explore several concepts through brainstorming, ideation, and prototype experimentation. A final concept direction will be visualized and prototyped for testing. All project activities and deliverables will be executed in collaboration with the project sponsor and include weekly design reviews with the project team where all stakeholders can provide input and feedback. The project will require two student interns: One with a background in product/fashion design and one with a background in graphic/user experience design. The interdisciplinary team will work under the mentorship of the faculty leading the project from the KCAD. The student interns will work in a hybridized workflow that will include some in-person meetings, remote work (anywhere on campus), and prototyping work in various KCAD/FSU labs and shops. This is a short-term position that will coincide with a project timeline, starting on February 22, 2026, and ending on April 18, 2026. Student interns will work an average of 10 hours per week for seven weeks of project activity, not to exceed a total of 70 hours per student. The project will pause activities during the week of March 8, 2026 for spring break.

The Pre-College Program Administrator has the duties and responsibilities of organizing programming, administering budgets, and completing state reports associated with grants such as the MI GEAR UP/KCP College Day Program. This is a grant-funded position with a one-year temporary assignment, with the possibility of renewal contingent on continued grant funding and successful performance. The position will include considerable travel to designated schools within Michigan to implement programs and activities designed to increase awareness to students and their parents about the importance of going to college.
