Summary of Position: |
• The School of Education seeks applications for an Assistant Professor to teach foundational and methodological courses in elementary, secondary, and/or early childhood education. • Duties will include attending department meetings, advising early childhood, elementary and secondary education students, and participating in accreditation process, etc. • Teaching on-campus and off-campus courses, face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous online courses will be based on department need. • Courses are to be taught in person on Ferris State University's Main Campus. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment • The start date of this position is August 2025. |

• Ed. D. or Ph.D. in education or closely related field completed by Aug. 1, 2025. • Minimum of 18 credits in elementary, secondary, or early childhood education at a master's level or higher. |

• 3-5 years of experience teaching birth to grade 12. (Two years part-time is equivalent to one year full-time.) |

Required Licenses and Certifications: |
• Teacher certification or ability to become certified. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
• Faculty members have professional responsibilities which may include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in University committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex. reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). • Faculty members may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment. • Teach courses in foundations of education and methodology courses and other courses qualified to teach. • Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members. • Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. • Actively participate in curriculum development and accreditation. • Supervise students in the field. • Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. |
