Summary of Position: This position supports the Office of Student Success Initiatives and University College’s grant-funded programs, funded by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO). The SSI Staff Assistant will collaborate with the Student Success Initiatives Director and 4S Grants Program Coordinator to plan, develop, and implement SSI programs. Additionally, this role will assist in the development and execution of Determined Dawg Student Success Program events and support select functions of the Determined Dawgs Scholar Academy. The SSI Staff Assistant will also help develop and facilitate student onboarding for the Navigate360 student success platform.  
Position Requirements: • Undergraduate student at Ferris State University.
• Must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.50 or higher at the time of application and should be maintained during the period of employment.
• Must have achieved college sophomore status or greater as of Spring 2025.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills which includes oral, electronic, and traditional documentation.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Basic functional understanding of the Navigate360 student success software platform.
• Positive attitude, flexibility, and a passion for helping people.
• This position is not remote or hybrid. This is a face-to-face position.
• Must have availability for some weekend and evening work.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of all SSI programs.
• Support the development and execution of Determined Dawg Student Success Program events, as well as support of some functions of the Determined Dawgs Scholar Academy.
• Work collaboratively with the 4S Grants Program Coordinator to assist in training Pack Leaders and Student Success Coaches.
• Help coordinate the logistics of group trainings, cohort programs, supplemental learning experiences, and experiential learning activities within SSI operations.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with program staff, participants, supporters, and campus partners.
• Collaborate with the Ferris Equity Initiative User Experience Team (FEI UX) to develop and deliver training sessions for Ferris State students, emphasizing the benefits and importance of using the Navigate360 student success software platform.
• Work with program staff to foster a positive and inclusive community for all participants.
• Uphold program rules and university policies to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.
• Maintain clear and efficient communication with the Director, Program Coordinator, fellow staff members, and other relevant campus partners.
• Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
