Summary of Position: The Summer Senior Staff Advisor (SSA) is a live-in, paraprofessional staff member within the Office of Housing and Residence Life. The SSA provides leadership and oversight within the residential community by supporting student staff, managing administrative and desk operations, and assisting with summer camps and conferences. Summer SSAs serve as leaders, mentors, and key operational supports for Summer Residence Advisors (SRAs), Summer Community Advisors (SCAs), and Summer Camp Assistants (SCaAs).  
Position Requirements: Applicants must have previously worked with the Office of Housing and Residence Life for at least one semester as a Resident Advisor or Community Advisor.
Must have demonstrated the ability to meet and exceed expectations in a prior RA or CA role.
Must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and a minimum semester GPA of 2.3.
Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University.
Applicants may not be enrolled in internships, clinicals, practicums, student teaching, the police academy, or have academic commitments that require significant time off campus while employed as a Summer SSA.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to role model and promote the University’s mission and vision.
 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Perform responsibilities associated with the Summer Resident Advisor, Summer Community Advisor, and/or Summer Camp Assistant roles, as assigned.
Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to SRAs, SCAs, and SCaAs.
Develop, approve, coordinate, and track student staff programming efforts, including all-hall or community-wide programs.
Conduct one-on-one meetings with assigned student staff.
Assist with limited corrective action processes in collaboration with the Hall or Community Director.
Coordinate duty schedules for assigned SRAs, SCAs, and SCaAs.
Manage and oversee front desk operations, including assisting with timekeeping review.
Assist with staff recognition and staff development initiatives, including training and meetings.
Serve as a leadership presence during community opening and closing, emergency response situations, and conflict resolution within staff teams.
Assist in the creation and management of camp rosters and take an active leadership role in checking camps in and out of the residence halls.
Participate in a duty rotation and attend weekly camp meetings.
Help ensure the safety and security of assigned building(s).
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to the constant changes associated with summer housing, camps, and conferences.
