Summary of Position: |
Handle the management duties of the Ice Arena staff - which includes staffing & scheduling of student supervisors, maintenance workers, Skate Shop staff, etc. Coordinate & assist with all programming for the season (adult league, tournaments, learn to skate & play, open skate and all public activities). Assist the AD for Facilities & Events in all aspects of the Ice Arena business. Assists with mechanical aspects of Ice Arena - preparation and installation of ice, Zamboni prep, Varsity hockey game prep (prepare new nets, board & glass adjustments/cleaning, etc).

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Assist with the hiring, scheduling, and monitoring of student workers for Ice Arena operations, for the season. 8-9 student supervisors, 15-20 student maintenance workers, youth hockey and skate instructors, skate shop student workers. Additionally, assist with Varsity Hockey game operation staff. Assist with overall maintenance, overall cleaning of facility - work with Facilities Management/Custodial on improving cleanliness to promote a safe environment of activities.
Protect student athletes & public participants by knowing and maintaining industry and national safeguard standards in ice sheet & facility maintenance, Zamboni operations, etc.
Assist with the development and implementation of current and new ice arena activities, assist with scheduling of both ice arena ice sheets (full and half). Inspect and perform daily repairs and maintenance on ice arena ice, boards, glass, and facility areas.
Coordinate weekend management during the ice sports season - opening and closing on Saturday and Sundays throughout the year (September thru April).

Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
