Summary of Position: |
The Early Learning Center is seeking Assistant Teachers to join our NAEYC accredited team. This full-time position is an academic year position (August-May) and includes a comprehensive benefit package including sick, vacation, and holiday pay as well as medical insurance and retirement opportunities. The responsibilities of this position include supporting teaching staff in supervision of children. Manage classroom supervision in absence of teaching staff. Develop end-of-day and Friday learning experiences for children in assigned classroom. Ensure sanitation requirements are completed at the conclusion of each day. Handle end-of-day communication with parents for children enrolled in wrap-around childcare. This is a 10- month position. |

Required Education: |
A minimum of 12 credit hours from an accredited college/university in early childhood education, or closely related field as defined in the State of Michigan Licensing Regulations for Child Care Centers R. 400.8122. or the equivalency as detailed in the State of Michigan Licensing Regulations for Child Care Centers R. 400.8122 (6). |

Required Work Experience: |
Prior experience working with infants, toddlers, and pre-school age students. |

Required Licenses and Certifications: |
Upon appointment: Child & Adult CPR/First Aid certification and current enrollment in MiRegistry. |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: |
Prior knowledge of High Scope Curriculum model. Previous experience in a structured child care setting, desired. Prior knowledge of GSRP regulations. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Assist with meeting all current governing agency regulations.
Assist teachers in managing a safe, healthy, and positive environment for children.
Ensure end-of-day sanitation requirements completed on a daily basis.
Implement daily plans in absence of teaching staff as necessary.
Create end-of-day and Friday learning experiences for children supporting daily curriculum plans.
Attend and support family engagement activities.
Act as a liaison between families and classroom teachers during arrival and departure routines.
In absence of teaching staff, assume supervision responsibilities.
Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.
Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. |

Demonstrate successful experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. |
