Summary of Position: The Program Coordinator for Select Student Support Services (4S) serves as the primary liaison for the Determined Dawgs Scholar Academy (DDSA). DDSA is a selective, four-week summer bridge program designed to support conditionally admitted freshmen in their transition to Ferris State University. The program primarily serves students who may be the first in their family to attend college, require additional academic support, or come from under-resourced communities.

In this role, the coordinator facilitates communication and collaboration among program staff, university departments, and external partners to ensure a holistic approach to student success. Responsibilities include overseeing program evaluation, managing data collection and reporting, and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. The coordinator reports to the Coordinator of Student Success Initiatives. This is a temporary, grant funded position set to end on September 30th, 2029, with a possibility of renewal/continuation determined by continuation of the grant.

The anticipated start date is August 2025. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Master's degree preferred. Experience as a grant/project manager with demonstrated pre- and post-award experience.  
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Program Management: Oversee all aspects of the Determined Dawgs Scholar Academy (DDSA) and the Determined Dawgs Student Success Program (DDSSP), ensuring alignment with program goals, objectives, and timelines. Coordinate key program components such as common hours, academic workshops, campus engagement events, and support services aimed at improving student retention and academic success.

Program Evaluation and Assessment: Collaborate with the Coordinator of Student Success Initiatives to design and implement evaluation tools (e.g., surveys, data dashboards, statistical analysis). Analyze data on student performance and program outcomes to assess effectiveness and inform continuous program improvement. Prepare regular reports and recommendations based on findings.

Resource and Budget Management: Serve as a liaison with Institutional Research and other university departments to ensure data access while complying with institutional privacy guidelines. Assist with managing program budgets, ensuring responsible allocation of resources in accordance with university fiscal policies and grant funding requirements.

Collaboration and Communication: Maintain strong working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners to coordinate services and referrals. Act as the primary contact for program inquiries, providing accurate and timely information to students and stakeholders. Facilitate regular meetings and communication with program staff to ensure transparency and shared understanding of goals and progress.

Grant and Compliance Support: Assist with the preparation, submission, and administration of grant proposals related to DDSA/DDSSP. Monitor compliance with grant requirements and contribute to periodic reporting and documentation efforts.

Outreach and Program Visibility: Represent the Determined Dawgs programs at campus events, professional meetings, and conferences to enhance visibility and advocate for student success initiatives. Collaborate with university marketing and communications to develop promotional materials, newsletters, and program updates.

Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.

Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
 
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities:    
Skills and Abilities: Project management skills with experience managing and supervising administrative and grant projects.

Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Familiarity with data collection and analysis, program evaluation, and research methodologies.

Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of student success initiatives, retention strategies, and best practices in student support services is desirable.

Demonstrated commitment, experience, and understanding of barriers to higher education access and degree completion.
