Summary of Position: |
An adjunct instructor is needed to teach an undergraduate Computer Information System course as part of Ferris State University's Prison Education Program at Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer, Michigan. Courses are to be taught in person via face to face instruction, and the candidate selected for hire must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment.
The course to be taught is ISYS 321 - Business Information Systems: Introduction to strategic information systems functions. Provides an integrating experience that enables a student to demonstrate the capacity to synthesize and apply knowledge from an organizational perspective. Included are the uses of information technology to grow, expand, and efficiently and profitably manage an organization. Of particular focus are the interrelationships between information systems. The course’s main goal is to equip students with the latest developments in businesses with regards to information technology. In that sense, the following concepts will be introduced or emphasized: Business Solution Decision, Enterprise systems (ERP), Analytics and Business Process design. Students will participate in many interdisciplinary team projects and be exposed to leading business solutions software.

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or related field, OR Master's degree in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology. |

Required Work Experience: |
Three years of industry experience in IS or IT related field with direct experience in one of the areas to be taught. |
|
Required Licenses and Certifications: |
Successful candidates will need to complete a background check through LEIN, the Michigan Department of Corrections/MDOC Contractors training through Mi-TRAIN, and an on-site orientation. |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: |
Candidates with appropriate certifications and relevant teaching experience are preferred. Previous teaching experience at college level. Previous teaching experience in a prison education program. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Provide face-to-face instruction assuring/improving learning through assessment; close consultation with program faculty, as well as training via the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning. Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives. Faculty members also have professional responsibilities, which may include, but are not limited to, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students) and participating in traditional functions that have academic significance (e.g., reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Cultivates and environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty, and staff to thrive authentically. Any other duties assigned within the position classification area. |
