Instructor/Assistant Professor of Art History - Full-time Term Appointment (non-tenure-track) in Grand Rapids, MI 49503
One-year term appointment faculty members at KCAD teach 18 semester credit hours for the academic year: 3 courses each fall and spring semester. As a KCAD term appointment faculty member, you will engage in three kinds of professional development: continuous improvement in teaching effectiveness, creative and/or scholarly contribution within your discipline, and a college service commitment that includes committee work and community engagement for the advancement of KCAD’s mission. You will actively advise students regarding their academic plan and progress as well as their co-curricular and post-graduation opportunities. This is a full-time, one-year term (temporary), non-tenure-track faculty appointment with the possibility of renewal. Courses are to be taught in person on KCAD’s campus in Grand Rapids, MI. The candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The Art History Program serves students in all the art and design programs as well as Art History majors. We seek an outstanding educator who is an engaging speaker and can motivate and inspire students. Teaching assignments within the BA program include the first-year Art History survey (Global Art I and II), existing KCAD Art History courses, and other classes appropriate to the candidate’s areas of specialization and student needs. It is essential that the chosen candidate have the ability to teach some existing KCAD art history classes beyond the survey. This position is open to candidates specializing in any historical period or geographic area in art history; however, preference will be given to candidates who can teach non-Western art and architecture and/or global art and design. Required: Master’s degree in Art History or related field. Minimum of one year of full-time college teaching experience beyond teaching assistant (TA) appointments.

Assistant or Associate Professor of Construction Technology & Management (9-Month, Tenure-Track) in Multiple Locations
Primary responsibilities include teaching and advising students in a four-year BS Construction Management program (accredited by the American Council for Construction Education – ACCE) and in two separate two-year AAS programs – Building Construction Technology and Civil Engineering Technology. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is January 2025 at the earliest and August 2025 at the latest. Required: Master's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, or Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or appropriate related field AND five years full-time US construction experience (commercial or industrial) OR Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or appropriate related field AND an MBA plus eight years full-time US construction experience (commercial or industrial) with increasing levels of responsibility OR Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering or appropriate related field and eight years full-time US construction experience (commercial or industrial) with increasing levels of responsibility. A Master's degree in field or an approved related field will be required prior to tenure. Required work experience is based on degree attained. Higher level degree (PhD) in Construction Management or closely related degree requires five years full-time US construction experience (commercial or industrial). If a candidate has a PhD in a closely related field, but not actually Construction Management, the Master's degree must be in Construction Management and five years full-time commercial or industrial construction experience is required.

The School of Education seeks applications for an Assistant Professor to teach education courses in elementary, secondary, and/or early childhood. Duties will include attending department meetings, advising students, and participating in accreditation process, etc. Teaching on-campus and off-campus courses, face-to-face, synchronous and asynchronous online courses will be based on department need. The Architecture and Facility Management Department invites applicants for a 9-month tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful candidate will be instrumental in implementing a new Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree, which is being submitted to the University community for consideration this fall. The successful applicant will hold a graduate degree in architecture or a closely related field and will have applicable work experience in architectural practice. Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience. In addition to a background in practice, applicants should have a working knowledge of and commitment to sustainable design and sustainable systems. Preference will be given to candidates who show an interest in and an aptitude for marketing an academic program through online advertising campaigns, social media, high school and community college visits, summer camps, or other appropriate channels. Applicants with specific expertise in one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply: teaching first-year design and/or visualization; Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator; Rhino and/or Revit; architectural detailing, construction materials, and/or advanced building systems.
