Adjunct Instructor 1 - History in Big Rapids, MI 49307
The Humanities Department has a need for History instructors for the Fall 2024 and/or the Spring 2025 semesters to teach a wide variety of history courses on an as needed basis. Courses may include US History (survey courses) and/or Global History. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. For in-person or hybrid teaching positions: Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. For 100% online teaching positions: Courses are to be taught online. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan, Illinois (excluding Chicago), Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Ohio, or Wisconsin after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position is August 2024 at the earliest and January 2025 at the latest. Required: Master's degree in History OR Master's degree in another field with 18 graduate credits of coursework in history. Prior teaching experience at the high school level or higher.

Part-Time Dining Services in Big Rapids, MI 49307
Dining Services is seeking hard working individuals to join a team of professionals dedicated to providing outstanding customer service. Several positions classified as part time continuing are available to assist in providing support in our retail, catering and residential food service operations, working up to 28 hours a week. Duties vary and could include greeting customers, processing meal plans, cash and credit card transactions utilizing a point of sales system, assisting with food production and service of food as needed. Individuals in this position will be exposed to all food types (ex. shellfish, peanuts, & fruit) in an environment where industrial strength cleaners are used. Work hours may vary, and you may be required to be on-call, work evenings, weekends and holidays. Required: High school diploma or GED equivalency. Prior cashiering/retail/cash handling and/or food service experience is a plus. Good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team environment, and ability to assist customers cheerfully.

One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. This posting is used for face to face and/or online instruction. For in-person or hybrid teaching positions, candidates must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University’s campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. For courses that are taught 100% online, the candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan, Illinois (excluding Chicago), Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Ohio, or Wisconsin after acceptance of employment. Required: Candidate must have a Masters in Social Work (MSW). Applicants must have a Michigan Social Work Licensure upon appointment. At least two years of post-MSW social work practice. The successful candidate must demonstrate the potential for higher education teaching excellence and the ability to work effectively with both the faculty and students.

Dining Service Substitute Trainee (9-Month) in Big Rapids, MI 49307
This temporary (9-month) full-time position provides support in food service production by assisting in food preparation and other service needs in dining, working up to 40 hours a week. Duties will include preparation of entrees and soups, short order cooking, assisting with salad and bakery product preparation, ware-washing and maintenance, and preparation of service areas. Individuals in this position will be exposed to all food types (ex. shellfish, peanuts, & fruit) in an environment where industrial strength cleaners are used. Work hours may vary, and you may be required to be on-call. Employees must be able to interact with students, staff, faculty and patrons; project a positive image; communicate effectively with others in a manner that demonstrates a desire to provide great customer service and reflects an awareness of the customers' needs. Individuals hired as a Dining Service Substitute Trainee (9-month) may not serve in this capacity more than 9 months and may not return to this position after the 9-month assignment has ended. Required: High school diploma or GED equivalency.
