Assistant/Associate Professor of Fashion Studies (Tenure-track) Grand Rapids, MI 49503
Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University (KCAD) in Grand Rapids, MI prepares artists and designers to have impact through practice. Full time faculty members at KCAD teach 18 semester credit hours per academic year, typically 3 courses each fall and spring semester. As a KCAD faculty member, you will engage in three kinds of professional development: continuous improvement in teaching effectiveness, creative and/or scholarly contribution within your discipline, and a college service commitment that includes committee work and community engagement for the advancement of KCAD’s mission. You will actively advise students regarding their academic plan and progress as well as their co-curricular and post-graduation opportunities. The program prepares students for careers in the fashion industry through key studio classes integrating concept development, design, materials, garment construction, pattern-making, draping, drawing, digital technologies and research/development. Program includes fashion shows, community collaborations, a fashion lab, and support courses in General Education and Art History add broader context to the program; with an optional senior year experience at the Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC. Teaching assignments will include but are not limited to: design process for fashion and function, construction, patternmaking, draping, and textiles, as framed by the program outline. The faculty member should form a bridge between the students' academic/studio learning and the profession; thus, applicants should demonstrate significant experience in apparel design/development and a continuing, active connection to the fashion design industry. The School of Education seeks applications for an Assistant Professor to teach foundational and methodological courses in elementary, secondary, and/or early childhood education. Assistant Professor - Sales and Marketing (9-month, Tenure Track) Big Rapids, MI 49307
The Department is seeking a qualified individual to teach a selection of undergraduate courses in sales and marketing. The ideal candidate should be able to teach variety of sales related classes (e.g., Professional Selling, Sales Management, Advanced Selling, and Supply Chain Management) as well as other marketing classes such as Principles of Marketing, Marketing Data Analysis, Sports Marketing, and Digital Marketing. Teaching graduate courses in sales might also be required. The candidate will participate in development and improvement of curriculum and curriculum delivery, assessment of student learning, service work including student engagement activities and committees, and engage in scholarly activities and professional development aligned with current and emergent programmatic needs. Faculty members have professional responsibilities which include advising students, participation in committees, keeping regular posted office hours, and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance. Adjunct Instructor 1 - Developmental Curriculum Multiple Locations
All potential dual or concurrent enrollment instructors must complete the Ferris application process to be considered to teach a Ferris course. The Developmental Curriculum department approves the credentials of dual and concurrent enrollment instructors teaching courses in their curriculum area. Selected instructors must meet the academic department’s requirements for teaching courses in their curriculum areas. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired as needed to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. This posting is being used for face-to-face and/or online instruction. However, the candidate selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment. The anticipated start date of this position varies by semester but generally would fall around May 14, 2024, August 26, 2024, or January 13, 2025. Required: An instructor teaching developmental curriculum college courses must have a master’s degree. Two years of full-time experience working in a high school, career and technical education center, or college/university combined with expertise in career advising, coaching, or guidance.
