Product Design faculty focus on teaching students how to manage a human-centered design process, develop unique product solutions, and apply their technical skills to craft a compelling visual story about their ideas. The teaching assignment targeted for the Spring 2024 semester is an Entrepreneurship course for product design students. The coursework teaches students how to develop a business model concept and pitch, based on a new product/service they are designing. Assistant Professor - Sports Communication (REVISE/REPOST) Big Rapids, MI 49307
Sports Communication at Ferris is a dynamic, interdisciplinary program that works closely with the Ferris Athletic Department, which boasts nationally ranked D1 and D2 teams. The Sports Communication program offers three degree levels: Bachelor of Science, Minor and Certificate. The program is rooted and housed in the Communication discipline within the Department of Humanities, and it includes one of the following emphases: Social Media and Digital Communication, Multimedia Journalism, Integrated Marketing Techniques, or Event Management. As the Sports Communication "champion," the finalist will participate in recruitment activities, advise students, coordinate program-related activities, and collaborate with campus and community partners. The finalist will be expected to teach a 4-4 load of classes and direct internships or practicum/research projects. Required teaching assignments include Sports Communication and Seminar in Sports Communication (both project-based); and at least one of the core General Education Communication courses: Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and/or Small Group Decision Making. The finalist could potentially also teach Intercultural Communication, Diversity and Communication, and other courses that they would be encouraged to develop within their area of expertise. Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Grant Project Director (REVISE/REPOST) – Ferris State University. Ferris State University has been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) to further a comprehensive coordinated community approach to enhance victim safety, provide services and support for victim/survivors, and support efforts to hold offenders accountable. The funding supports activities that develop and strengthen trauma-informed victim/survivor services and strategies to prevent, investigate, and respond to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking on campus. The Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Grant Project Director is a temporary, grant funded, full-time, 12-month position responsible for administering the OVW Campus Program Grant. The Director will serve as point of contact for the OVW Grant for the Department of Justice/OVW, will manage implementation of grant programs and activities, will lead us in the achievement of mandatory, statutory, and program requirements, will attend and participate in all required trainings, and will complete all grant reports, assessments, and OVW correspondences. In addition, the Project Director will ensure that we meet our OVW Priority Area expectations to specifically increase our efforts to reduce stalking and to ensure that 50% or more of our proposed grant activities address stalking. Required: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Full-time professional experience with sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking victim services, or primary prevention.
