Summary of Position: |
Coordinate the operational functions of all program, clinic, and laboratory facilities. Maintain adequate clinic and laboratory supplies and functional equipment. Oversee operations of the sterilization room and of assigned student employees. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2023. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed. |

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: |
Associates Degree in health-related field Experience in managing sterilization duties and/or infection control practices, inventory and ordering experience. Work experience in a dental or healthcare setting. |

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: |
Purchase dental supplies and lab materials for community dentistry classes and dental radiology Order and manage inventory of clinic supplies and student supplies Direct and supervise the preventative maintenance of sterilization equipment and disposal of sharp containers and other medical waste Monitor weekly autoclaves (spore tests) and the inventory and exchange of radiation monitoring badges Exchange broken or defective hand equipment from student hygiene kits Receive Gifts in Kind and maintain appropriate records Hire, supervise, direct, instruct student employees, assuring that proper procedures are followed Serve as support person for CDCA exams Keep records, maintain logs, perform a variety of office related duties Performs all duties in compliance with applicable University policies and procedures and state and federal requirements Reports directly to the Clinic Operations Supervisor Responsible for discharge duties in accordance with the established policies and procedures of Ferris State University and the College of Allied Health Sciences as well as provisions of the relevant collective bargaining agreements Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information Any other duties assigned within the position classification area Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members |

Skills and Abilities: |
Ability to plan, organize, and make sound independent judgments and decisions Assist others effectively in practices and procedures in dental hygiene Be knowledgeable in and be able to operate autoclave and related dental hygiene equipment Demonstrate and operate a microcomputer using various software applications, word-processing, spreadsheets, etc. Excellent interpersonal skills Knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA regulations Knowledge of sterile technique and infection control Demonstrated commitment, experience and understanding for diversity, equity, and inclusion |
