Summary of Position: The Assistant Director/Internship Coordinator of the PGA Golf Management program is responsible for all aspects of the PGA Golf Management internship program. Furthermore, the position is responsible for:

Assisting in the recruitment of prospective students.
Providing oversight for all activities associated with the annual PGA Merchandise Show.
Assisting with management of and coordination of all PGM programming.
Serving as adjunct faculty for PGA GM internship courses (PGMG-192, 292, 392, 492, 493).
Maintaining contact/engagement with the program alumni association and the Ferris Alumni Office.
Monitoring PGA personnel policies, procedures, and expectations for accreditation compliance.
Administering and monitoring requirements set forth by the PGA.
Interacting and communicating on a regular basis with other academic programs to facilitate enhancement of curricular offerings.
Actively participating in, and encouraging staff to participate in, appropriate professional development activities.
Hiring, training, and monitoring work of student employees.
Implementing new emerging technology and trends for the program to increase productivity (Formstack, Office 365, Teams, SharePoint).
Providing administrative leadership for the PGM RSO as needed.

The anticipated start date for this position is August of 2023. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.
 
Position Type: Staff  
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in business or related field; Master's degree preferred.  
Required Work Experience: PGA Member in good standing.
Three to five years of golf industry experience is preferred.
Demonstrate ability to provide leadership in an academic environment.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Three to five years of golf industry experience is preferred.  
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Assist in managing all processes that ensure PGM students complete five semesters of appropriate work experience required to become PGA Member (entailing at least three different locations & three types of facilities.)

Assist in the recruitment of prospective students.

Provide oversight for maintenance of PGA requirements.

Assist with the management and coordination of all PGM programming.

Plan, coordinate, and implement major program events, such as the annual PGM Employer Interview Day and the Senior Banquet, working with students, faculty, administration, and industry representatives.

Assist Director with PGA GM internship courses (PGMG-192, 292, 392, 492, 493) and PGA curriculum courses (PGMG 210, 211, 310, 311, 410, 411)

Serve as academic advisor to the PGA GM students.

Maintain contact and involvement with the PGA GM alumni association and the Ferris Alumni Office.

Promote PGM students to employers through various media, employer visits, and mailings.

Monitor PGA personnel policies, procedures, and expectations for accreditation compliance.

Administer and monitor requirements set forth by the PGA.

Interact and communicate regularly with other academic programs to facilitate the enhancement of curricular offerings.

Encourage and take part in relevant professional development activities, and motivate staff to do the same.

Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.

Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
 
Marginal Duties/Responsibilities: Responsible for supervising and training assigned staff and student workers within the area of responsibility. Carries out supervisory responsibilities by university policies and applicable laws.

Implement new emerging technology and trends for the program to increase productivity (Formstack, Office 365, Teams, SharePoint).

Provide administrative leadership for the PGM Registered Student Organization.

Work closely with the Director, the Department Chair, and the secretary for the Marketing Department.

Work directly with the Director for PGA Accreditation and University Programming.

Fulfill all duties of the Director in their absence.

Provide instruction for courses as assigned or designated.

Interact and communicate regularly with other academic programs to facilitate the enhancement of curricular offerings.

Engage in the development and maintenance of external relations.

Serve on committees and task forces at the college and university level.

Actively participates in appropriate professional development activities.

Demonstrated ability in event planning, with thorough preparation and attention to detail.

Experience in scheduling and conducting extensive off-campus travel.
